"Warranty? What warranty?"

None of the Chinese accordions I've seen for sale, including the Parrot, the Excalibur, and the Black Diamond advertise a warranty written and/or expressed. Buyer beware. Yet, when asked, the Parrot and the Black Diamond offer a standard one year warranty, but with Black Diamond in Ireland and Parrot in China, good luck getting your accordion repaired should you have a warranty problem. Still with nothing in writing, for all intents and purposes, there are no warranties expressed, written, and/or implied with any of these accordions and even if there were, where do you go to have them repaired? China?

The Excalibur offers a 2 year warranty on parts and a 1 year warranty on labor but you'd have to ship your at accordion at your cost back to the dealer in Wisconsin for them to repair your box, unless you found a local shop that they agreed to work with in advance. So now what? Do you take the risk and buy the 50 to 60-year-old Italian accordion or do you take a chance and buy the brand, new Chinese accordion. It's your call. If it was me, unless I could afford to buy a fairly new $3,000 Italian accordion, I'd go for the new, Chinese accordion.

With the economy still so bad and no one having any extra money, especially enough to afford a new, Italian accordion, it won't be long, I give it ten years, before the Chinese completely take over the new accordion market. It won't be long, I give it a few more or several more decades, say in 2048 or 2084, before all Americans will be dressed in little, grey suits while playing Chinese accordions. Just like the vision that George Orwell had when he wrote 1984 in 1948, we are all doomed to bow and deliver not to the United States but to the Chinese while playing the Chinese national anthem, March of the Volunteers, on our Chinese accordions. Best we all learn Chinese and how to play the accordion because one day soon, we'll all be saluting to a different flag and bowing down to a different master.

"I think I'm learning Chinese. I think I'm learning Chinese. I really think so."

I can just imagine a good ol' boy from Alabama or Georgia ruining the language while speaking in Chinese with a southern accent when on the phone trying to order a Bushmaster gun from China.

"Thirty days? What do you mean it will take thirty days for me to get my Bushmaster gun? I want my gun today. Why can't I pick it up at Wal-Mart? What is it coming on a slow boat from China?"

"Shi," said the woman on the other end meaning yes.

His Bushmaster was indeed arriving on a slow boat from China. Shipping soon, after their month long holiday when all the factories are closed and all the workers go home by train to their far away provinces. It's better to order one here with a prominently displayed stamp that reads, made in China, than to wait for China to ship it.

A large number of people Chinese like to play accordians

Don't play so can't comment on the quality of accordian manufacturers.

But the accordian is a fairly popular instrument in China, at least it was in the generation before now, when parents started forcing all their kids to play violin and piano. This is not only because it is a big country, per capita China has a lot of accordian players and teachers.

Until recently China was pretty poor and houses not that big. Accordians are a lot cheaper and smaller than pianos.

They are portable and dont need power, so they also work well in small outdoor groups, which is a super common type of music/activity in China. a bunch of people just get together and start playing, especially in the past.

With keyboards, and KTV's accordian playing has dipped some, but it is still a lot more common than in other places I think.

Tuning

I know of people buying used German button boxes and having them tuned to D/G for playing Irish tunes. Not a cheap process at all, but playing sessions with other musicians is much facilitated. No thought given to any Chinese boxes at all .

Did you know that the PA dates back to 1895? My Lachenal English Concertina was made in 1883. Play, all who play or sing are treasures .

"...Roland is moving its factory for making electronic accordeons from Italy to China ?

They would not do that if the quality of manufacturing was not up to their standards..."

Hahahahahahaha!!! charlienotsobrightone, you are quite the comedian. With jokes like that, everyone will start calling you 'Jack de Lad".

We can hear them now, the senior executives and wall street wolves and Repacious Party congressmen laughing so hard they pee themselves. "Another thousand skilled craftsmen kicked into the gutter, another thousand families hopes & dreams crushed."

What is important is that the onepercenters grab a few more dollars to shove into their pockets. And it doesn't matter if it the USA or Italy or Australia that loses their middle-class/ Hell, to keep feeding the vampires of plutocracy even China is losing jobs to India and Vietnam. And the Dance Macabre plays on!

More manufacturers of accordeons move their factories to China

Do you know, Roland is moving its factory for making electronic accordeons from Italy to China ?

They would not do that if the quality of manufacturing was not up to their standards...

Even found another Chinese accordeon manufacturer Elaine accordeons, who even manufactures parts for Roland.

Accordians?

Wow! A treatise on Chinese (and other) Accordions on my favorite sex story site. How odd is that? I am going to have to pull out my own accordion which I haven't looked at in years. I don't think it is Chinese and I can't remember the name of it.

I had no idea that an accordion has to be tuned. I figured the reeds were just like a harmonica. Yes, you can fine tune those reeds on a harp, but I would have never thought that one would tune an accordion with the same frequency as a guitar or piano.

Thanks for writing this and giving me an enlightening edumacashion. 5 stars from me!

Interesting, educational and just damned good writing! We need more like this entry :)

Amazing feature that could be in any mainstream magazine, in fact I had to look and make sure I wasn't on TIME or Consumers Reports website. I'm speechless with the amount of research and time Susan has spent on this entry. If we as Americans would look closer at everything we buy and not be in such a darned hurry to say we have it-there wouldn't be any of the inferior products on the market. Years ago when I turned wrenches as a hobby and part time job, the only tools I knew were Snap-On,sure they cost like hell, but the polished quality and fit was there. Sears Craftsman makes an American product, but mass produced, it's just that for the masses and not a professional. I can really relate to this feature and having dealt with musical instruments on eBay, unless you have a junk unit or are willing to give away a nice estate find, you had best leave music to the professionals. BRAVO SUSAN- I really enjoyed this feature, what a welcome break on an otherwise erotic site. You are the best! :) Smiles:) jaybird
