Seconds later a voice of unrefined honey whispered, "G'night, Joss."

I don't know if he heard me, I had little breath, but I whispered back, "G'night, Kiefer."

Kiefer's measured hot breath on my hair soon lulled me into a deep sleep. But before I drifted into dreamland, I counted myself as perhaps the most fortunate woman in the world as Kiefer's left hand gave mine a sweet, soft squeeze.
