Wow. Very good- with a twist in the tail(pun intended)

I really wanted to love this story but everytimw I read "my lover" after the first few uses it made me cringe. There are hundreds of synonyms to use! I'm not saying it takes away from the story necessarily, but using synonyms would give your story a more fluid and realistic feel.

Good detail and nice twist at the end.
