Idiomatic expression - In Ireland if someone is feeling unwell (in this case suffering from bad period pains and so on) they are referred to as being "poorly" or "feeling poorly". So Mr Harty's poorly daughter was the menstrually challenged Penny.

Poor Penny yet again .....I thought in this version you might stick to Jill who you claim to love (and who seems as manipulating as you so a good match) and leave Penny alone but you just can't help manipulating her life yet again lol
