The potential's there, but it not only needed editing (mad amounts of passive voice), but also development. Show, don't tell is how it's usually summed up and it would really improve your story.

Some dialogue would also help with the flow of the story, but also with the tension you're trying to convey. Innuendo, subtext, and interplay will help readers connect with and invest in your characters.
