Join the world and and how many words are used. Its mom for a female parent not "mum" which is remain quiet/silent, using it makes your sentences read rough.
Why don't You join the world? Then you'd realise that people outside the US don't speak American. I'm sure you would put a different interpretation from me on the sentence: "The vet gave an Afghan an injection."
to ANON 1:
[1] florist's chrysanthemum: of China
[2] ma: informal terms for a mother
[3] secrecy; "mum's the word"
ALSO:
[4] an experimental Icelandic musical group
[5] Mum Shirl, [Shirley Smith (1921-1998)] a prominent Aboriginal Australian and activist
[6] Mum was the first brand of commercial deodorant
... and there's more...
BUT...the point is, 'female biological parent' has more than one expression [mother, ma-ma, mom, ma, mum, mater] depending on cultural context.
to ANON 2:
...the difference between a warzone and an animal hospital? LOL
I can't log in to the site from my phone (my username is taelifay) but here's the deal. If the author of a story wants to use banana for penis and whore for mom who's to say?
Besides... I've visited England and a few other countries. And let me tell you, their vocabulary is different. Fag = cigarette. Gay really DOES mean happy. And most importantly mum=mom.
You shouldn't say the author is using the wrong word when you can't even give the right definition.
Thank you.
