Great tale, I really enjoy your western adventures. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nicely written. Plot of an advertised hired kidnapping being okay with law enforcement officers & telegraph company is a reach too far for me, however.

Good story, but.....

I just don't understand in any of these western stories, yours or anyone else's, that when the character in these stories is being chase on horseback, why do they ALWAYS shoot at the pursuers instead of at the larger target, the horses. Rafe could have waited on those riders just at the crest of the rise and waited for them to be in range, laying on his belly and would be hard to see. One by one he could shoot the horses, leaving the panicked men on foot in the middle of nowhere. Then, just be able to ride away easy. But, of course, then you wouldn't have your story or would have to change the story a lot!

Llano estacado

Good enough tale. The Llano Estacado is located north of the area you wrote about. You wrote about the area generally referred to as the Edwards Plateau. Check out the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llano_Estacado

looks like a real good one

hope it progress slowly, those are the best. but you have set one thing, rafe is both a competent gun handler, and also a calm one with a good horse, a very dangerous combo to face

Yet another fine western

from woodmanone. Thanks!

Mr Reece should have given him money for not killing his stupid son, instead of putting a price on him! Why in the world did the storekeeper feel that he had to have him killed? Yeah, I know, cross-cultural differences.

I am with you Wood

I open and read your stories just by your Byline. Hope your postings come quickly. Oh, and thank for not leaving us hanging off a cliff!!! You just stopped to take a breath, hope it is not a long wait, as Rafe can only ride so far until he reaches the next town. BUICK GS

I Join The Plaudits

Woody, you have a great one going with all the authenticity of the Old West. I can smell the dust, burn to the sun, and hear the clomp of shod AND unshod hoofs, remembering that in '76 (40 years after the Alamo and San Jacinto) the Comanches and Apaches were both still running hard, so Rafe better keep a close lookout forward, to both sides and, especially, behind him, and stay to the high ground.

Your stories have always been enjoyable but this is your best yet. It's tightly written, flows smoothly and almost begs me to read faster. Very good writing!

LOUIE LAMOUR

THIS STORY IS UP WITH L.L. AS A GREAT WESTERN SAGA. LIKE MOST OF WMOs SUBMISSIONS THEY ARE GOOD AND VERY CORRECT AS TO PERIODS,TIME AND CORRECT PORTAYAL OF LIFE ON THE FRONTIER OR WHERE HE WRITES IT AND KEEPS IT IN PERSPECTIVE. KEEP IT UP AND I AWAIT THE NEXT CHAPTERS. P.S LIVING WHERE YOU DO, TAKE A DRIVE TO TORTILLA FLATS AND GOLDFIELD IN THE SUPERSTITION MTNS. TK U MLJ LV NV

I believe age and cunning will overcome youth and enthusiasm every time. Being some what of an egomaniac I believe my stories are very interesting. Only the readers can verify or disprove that premise. Several of my stories are based on my own experience or most have a little ...
