Obedience is rewarded with being spanked? That seems odd. Obedience is usually rewarded with affection no? And spanking is usually because of disobedience yes? Even dogs being trained aren't abused, as long as their owner is a decent human. Gagging is a natural reaction, if he didn't pull away the gagging would have gotten worse and potentially caused him actual harm.
