one of the things I felt hurt the story was the switched POV's. It went from first person to a narrator back to first person, which really does not work at all.

I am glad the husband didn't do what most husbands should do in these stories. The wife knew what she was doing. It wasn't an 'Accident' as she claimed.

The story was well told. My first reaction was that no one in a seemingly great marriage could just suddenly cheat like that. But I know there are all kinds of unfaithful people out there. Her ability to meet with the guy for breakfast the next morning shows how brain dead this woman is. Being with the guy should have been a horribly painful reminder of what she had just done to destroy her marriage but she has breatfast with him like he had nothing to do with the problem. What a twit. It was pushing it to have Con show up but I liked the actions he took so I can give it a pass.

The character build and story was presented very well and for the most part very believable. The only thing I had trouble with is how quick she jumped into bed with her lover. Was it the thought that there isn't any way she will be caught? If that be the case, then she was just wanting something like this to happen even before she went to the reunion.

This story is average. The story line is good. However, details are sometimes incorrect. For example, it took her 4 hours by train to reach her home town where the reunion was held. Con drove there in half the time. Another example: if Con had poured hot coffee down Chucks neck or down his wife's bra, very severe burns of the skin would have occurred. RAG

Yes, the story had it all. One comment was the amount of time it took her to get to her hometown on the train. In the US, we have slower trains that often have stopovers in towns in between, the terrain also slows the train as well as the number of curves. It is not unusual to be able to drive to a destination faster than taking the train. The ending was very realistic, because she really could not come up with a legitimate marriage saving reason for her actions. She was acting inappropriately in front of her classmates. Her ex-boyfriend always seemed to be allowed to interject himself whenever it was not wise, and she allowed it. Con's reaction and refusal to try to save the marriage was simply his expression that he would never be able to forget, and not particularly interested in any lame excuses.

Someone commented that he thought that the transition to having sex was rather quick, but we know that they had history and I do believe that you will find that lovers who did not have the kind of shock that Con had find it easy to get together again. While I believe Christians can fall, what I have a hard time believing is that this woman would cheat on her husband and her God, her moral compass, and feel no remorse. Guilt, yes; but not remorse. When the reverend speaks about honor, faithfulness and honesty, will she feel any real desire to confess or does it affect her at all? IF it doesn't then why is she going to church? If she isn't a Christian at all, then why mention going to church? Because of that, this whole story was pointless. It wasn't even worthy of stroking one off.

A high school couple attend a reunion without their respective spouses, drink too much, and end up in bed together. Usually nothing happens because the spouses don't learn about it, or learn about it much later when time has attenuated the feelings. But if you were sitting in that hotel room waiting for your spouse until the wee hours of the morning......

and then she PAID, we may not like the end results of adultry but in all areas of law it destroys the marriage. Somewhere in our lives we need to become responsable for our own actions.

After three years of marriage I can understand her still having regrets about what she did, but not getting serious with another guy for ten years is a little hard to accept. Why does 130 mile train ride take four hours?

The story just didn't make sense. Four hour drive? He called her sometime after one, then he took a 45 minute nap, Yet he was still able to be there 10 minutes before she walked inside at five? And what about her? When you're caught in a tryst, the last person you want to see or be with is your lover. But yet she went to have breakfasrt with him where so conviniently Con had decided to have breakfast himself before heading home. This was just to many coincedences at the same time to be belivable. even though it's just a fantasy, a story should not be rushed through without connecting the dots. and it should give the women some intelligence to discern right from wrong and pick some intelligent decisions. No bueno!! just a waste of time reading this one.

This was a great story about the consequences of a one-night fling. Conroy divorced Glenda and did not even want to hear what explanation she had for the events of the ten year high school reunion. He divorced her and moved on. He remarried and hopefully this woman is more faithful that Glenda was. Glenda really never moved on. She has tried dating but has not been very successful at it. Her and Chuck never got together again. She does not go to any more high school reunions and she does not even celebrate New Year’s Eve anymore. She realizes that she threw away a great man, a great marriage, and it was for a one-night stand with an old boyfriend. She did not think through the consequences of her infidelity but once she was caught, there was nothing she could do to avoid those consequences. This is how infidelity and cheating really works and how it should work in today’s world. She had a scarlet letter on her breast for the rest of her life to remind her of her infidelity. Five stars for the story!!!

A fine story with an outcome that leaves a warm glow inside. The only thing that spoiled it a little was Glenda talking about Chuck's penis in the way she did, the same way men talk about women's breasts.
