Click hereThe applause was thunderous. His friends tried to stop him from leaving. He insisted he had to leave. The arrangements that were made for his escape and safety were already running late. He ran to the east entrance to the Capitol Building. Technician helped him into the Bomb Suit. Police lined both sides of the stairs looking for anyone that might wish to harm the Congressman. The police led the limousine into area at the bottom of the steps. Lucius and Paul were there waiting for him. Bordeaux waved to them, and began walking down the steps.
Members of the Congress watched from the landing above. People on his right and left were applauding. He raised his hand slightly to acknowledge them.
He was exhausted as he placed his left foot on the ground. The tension he was under, the length of his testimony, and weight of the bomb suit, were beginning to lighten as he approached the limousine. In a flash, the suit exploded. He was vaporized inside it. The six police officers surrounding him were thrown in all directions. They suffered contusions and lacerations, but none of them was in mortal danger.
Lucius and Paul ran towards the area. They were held back by other police officers, who began protecting the crime scene.
The Congressmen and women, who were lined up watching Bordeaux leave their hallowed building, were stunned. They sent hundreds of thousands of young men and women to war, and read about the thousands of casualties and deaths that occurred because of them. Never in their lives had they seen a death occur in front of them. Thousands of men and women looked upon this scene of death and very few of them said a word. One man that did was the vice president.
"Isn't it a shame he will not be able to testify against anyone."
"You're wrong Mister Vice President, he already has. In his testimony before us he indicted every clandestine agency that has broken the law. If I know Horace, and I do, in those boxes there is enough evidence to put them all in jail for a very long time. Who knows how high this conspiracy goes. It could go to the Congress and higher."
"It becomes all hearsay evidence Mister Speaker."
"You're wrong again Mister Vice President; it becomes a deathbed testimony. Horace said, under oath, he was not going to live much longer, and 40 minutes later he's dead. I can get a boy or girl, fresh out of law school, and prove that in a court of law."
"It would be an interesting test case to connect a murder to a deathbed testimony."
"It would be interesting to see who the litigants might be Mister Vice President."
"Yes it would Mister Speaker, yes it would. Coffee?"
"I'd rather drink piss with a rattlesnake."
"You'll regret you said that in a few years."
"Aren't you counting your chickens before they hatch? A lot can happen between now and Election Day."
"I don't believe so. Enjoy drinking your piss."
