For an experienced writer I was very disappointed in this story. It was so factually wrong, starting with the steam train. Just a slight bit of research would have told you that steam locomotives on passenger trains were gone in the early 1950's, LONG before Amtrak. And that was just the start. The train as the vehicle to a sexual adventure worked OK, but you really needed to get your facts straight about train travel in the current era.

There is this great story where a girl was taking her first trip to europe from US and train ride to her relatives.
