It is an interesting story and I look forward to the next chapter. It was sufficiently good that it got a five.

However, an editor would likely be a good idea. Things like 'compelling questions' and 'disdainful beer belly' do have the right feel. There are several other words used inappropriately.

Fact error: In the USA, the largest current denomination currently in use is the $100 bill. In your story, your mentioned a $1000 bill. The $1,000 bill was last circulated in 1969.

And happened to cone across this story. I'm not even sure how as when I tried to search for it again it took me days to find. I never thought I'd fall so easily under the spell but for me to see your characters whilst reading is truly a gift. I loved this and spent an enjoyable few evenings reading to the end of your sections and I was truly gutted when there was no more. I keep hoping any day there will be more as I'm starting to forget some of the dialogue so please continue. You are a creative, intellectual writer
