“Yes, James. You’re going to be a daddy.”
James swept her into his arms, crushing her against him as tears built and slid down his cheeks. “Beverly, that’s the best gift anyone’s ever given me.” He held her close, closing his eyes and whispering a silent prayer of thanks. “You’ve given me two lives. One of my own and one of our own.”
Beverly smiled into his face, tenderly wiping his tears away. “I hope it’s a boy.”
James could only smile.
