I know that with other readers, I can say that you can definitely add the
Western Stories to your great writing. I hope that we read a few more of this
category.
Great writing and thank you for your stories.
from a U.K. reader.
Another great western,You are an outstanding writer.I will look forward to your next story.
Woodmanone, you write a rip snortin story. I think you have found a new way of expressing yourself. Continue on with the westerns. Waiting for the next story you write. Again, keep up the good work
The name of the story caught my eye to begin with, for I am familiar with the song.
The character development and writing style held me captive until the end.
I'll be watching.
Everything done by Woodmanone has been excellent. This is where we can thank you! How about a murder mystery..... ??
Everything that Woodmanone does is excellent. Thanks! How about a murder mystery with a loving wife standing by her husband..... ??

I only found this story today, please post some more of this tipe of stories
I'll be you've got another tall tale that bounced around in your head as you wrote this. Winterborn will be tough to beat but, I'm sure you'll at least equal it. You're proud of this story are'nt ya, as well you should be.
Your stories read with excellant ease. Winterborne, was easy to follow and enjoyed reading the way you wrote and edited with fluid style. Glad you wrote to please you cause it pleased me too Amigo. Write On.

It wasn't the Pleasant Valley cattle and Sheep Was, but it was a good Louis L ending.
An excellent story. I look forward to reading more of your work.
Truly a haunting song. At first i didn't much care about the electronics heavy music but the lyrics are haunting. I can see how it inspired you, because it was the final inspiration for a story that's been stewing in my head to.
Damn good stuff you're writing here. Would be good to read more of it. I truly like what you are doing here.
i really liked this one, like the old days!!!!!! you know, in this day and age there are very, very few gentlemen who know how to treat a lady! damn few!!!!!
And this is one of the best! Thanks for a great read!!
I loved the mixed characters and character-specific venacular, the way the various backgrounds developed, the pace and flow occurring in and between the scenes, soft and reticent one second and deadly the next...well, there just wasn't anything worth mentioning that I didn't like. Each chapter has been rated by your readers, but I wonder if a rating for the entire story wouldn't be significantly higher than any of its individual chapters.
ONCE AGAIN I AM OVERWHELMED AT WHAT A GREAT STORY TELLER YOU ARE .! YOURE A GREAT WRITER AND ITS A PLEASURE TO READ SOMEONE WHO HAS SUCH GREAT ABILITY AS A STORY WRITER .AND AS I SAID BEFORE IN MY COMMENTS ABOUT REMINGTON 44 AND THE TRAIL TO PERDITION AND END OF AN ERA YOU INDEED SIR ARE A MAGNIFICENT WRITER AND IM LUCKY TO HAVE FOUND YOU BY ACCIDENT I ADMIT .BUT AGAIN AS I SAID BEFORE THANK YOU SO MUCH ITS A PLEASURE TO FIND SOMEONE WITH SUCH DEEP LOVE AND RESPECT FOR THE OLD WEST .THANKS AGAIN
I have enjoyed Winterborn a great deal. In fact I have enjoyed all of the Western themed ones. Keep up the good work.
just finished the second of the trilogy and am looking forward to reading the next and final series. Please be persuaded to keep writing.
I am enjoying your writing very much. Thank you for the stories and keep writing.

ive read some westerns and couldent but wonder what coaloil is.does anyone know .
Great western adventure from one of my favorite authors. My only wish is that the author would make this into a full length book.
Wunderbar German for wonderful. Is there any reason you could not combine the stories as you mentioned in your e-mail into a nice sized book and have it published?
You are as good as any and better than most. You even have some singles that could be tossed into the mix. That way the story would be laid out in much better fashion. you are in league with Zane Grey and Louie L'Amour.

Just finished this story for the second time. I'll probably read it again some day. Keep up the good work.
As some others have said, you should try a book, I'm sure it would be great!
Thank you!
I'm just now enjoying your works. Excellent western story with good characters, plot and settings.
I'm enjoying your westerns as much as the detectives.
Good writing, thank you.
pulled us along with you step by step.
I was hoping for a bit more at the end because there are so many issues left unresolved. It would have been nice for the EEE to take over the old Cassidy spread and incorporate it into a legacy ranch.
Loved it. Dillion remined me a lot of the great Louis L' Amour's Lance Kilkenny. You write a good western romance. While you are not yet an L'Amour's level keep it up and you will get there.
Good stuff.....but...."he was relegated to doing things...not regulated"....LOL!!!!
Just another stellar job of storytelling. I think your consistency in writing great stories bests any of the other writers I've read. I would say keep up the good work, but with your talent that's all were likely to get. 5 STARS CC
I would like to see some more adventures of this family.
I have enjoyed most of your stories. You have written a few dogs but a majority of them are very good and entertaining.
I was amused at the use of the coward John Wesley Hardin in this story. He was a braggart and the only reason he was semi-famous is that he wrote his own auto-biography while in prison. Most of it is garbage but at that time people were still thirsty for stories from the old west. Most of the men Hardin killed were not a fair fight with some of them even being unarmed.
I'm surprised the main character didn't run into some U.S. Marshalls or Texas Rangers. Then again, both of them had depleted numbers during the time period of this story because of the Civil War. Plus the 3-year experiment where Texas tried to replace the Rangers with Texas State Police. While the Texas Rangers do have a very checkered past, their personal heyday was during the time period of the old west. It's amazing that in a nearly 50-year time span of the old west, only 30 Texas Rangers were killed. That's pretty BadAssery since they had to face Carpet Baggers, Robbery Gangs, Indians, Warring Ranch Owners, and organized gangs of Raiders not to mention the normal criminals.
He was RELEGATED not regulated to cleaning weapons.
...And, I can't believe the sheriff didn't have at least one deputy. I find it hard to believe that the sheriff would leave 2 prisoners in an unattended jail.
Just a couple notes, women were scarce in the old west. As such, they were respected and cherished, for the most part. Because of that, a man even accidentally bumping into woman to hard could find himself beaten or even invited to a necktie party. Even if she were of the soiled dove variety of woman. So, cowboys slapping or even threatening a woman would probably not be something that would happen.
Unless you're talking about a US Marshall who had regional authority, lawmen aka sheriffs, rarely cared about what happened outside of the towns they served, at least not until in the later 1800s.
