clumsy and flimsy
sweet and sexy
and a little bit scary
watching, waiting, wary
stolen glances
through endless shapes
thrown over a dinner table
infinite row of forks
every cutlery set
a fifteen minute dish
of trite polite conversation
later
she had whispered
and squeezed his hand
first, pretend to be adults
down here
then, go and be adults
for real
some otherwhere...
and the evening dragged on
glacier river slow
not without it's moments
toes rubbed together
under the table
mouthed loveyous
behind napkins
just the knowledge
of palm anticipating
slide over soft skin
and tongue licking
red wine drops
from a glass
foreseeing
exquisite options
almost too much to bear
noone noticed
except old grannie
who always notice everything
leaning in
between blue cheeze fromage
and tiramisu dessert
Don't rush it, boy
and treat her right,
I know you can.
murmured under Tokaij breath
And don't you worry,
I'll stall your parents,
hers too. It's a night
for the young, one to remember.
a creamy coffee treat later
four silent feet
ran stolen steps up stairs
hand in hand
hearts in heaven
to a secluded premiere
a night for the young
one to remember
and with many more
to follow
just then just right
this opening night
far from flawless
clumsy and flimsy
sweet and sexy
and a little bit scary
i loved the way it flowed off my tongue, and you painted the evening so wonderfully. great piece of work!
well-conceived and written. Great reading, as always from you.
It was a simply sweet poem except the middle part from "no one noticed" to "one to remember". That part made me stumble and I didn't think I'd get back upright, but you took me back to the poem I was loving right after that and I felt it again.
and perfectly paced.
the " loveyou behind nipkins" was beautiful.
sweet and tender and funny
and brings me back to those footsie days
Thank you
