You managed to share this man's feelings about losing his father without going into a lot of detail. Must be the poet in you. Though sad I liked the story.

I know the numb feeling well myself. My father died two months ago, and I've been mostly numb ever since. Not that I adored him. He was a hard taskmaster, grumpy most of the time, and not easy to be around. Still, I wish he'd even once told me that I had done well at any task I ever did, but that simply wasn't in him I guess.

And one of the best stories I have read on this sight! Bravo!
