Since my mother was an English professor, I have been "schooled" into proper English (American, but British spellings are no problem usually). This led to an almost anal dislike of errors but not necessarily into rigid conformity. Enough innuendos for now. Sex being primarily created and digested in the mind and most effectively conveyed by verbiage, music, or visual art; distraction is its enemy. A misspelling, an incorrect name, a plot miscue, or anything jarring can damage the spell that is cast by an inventive writer whose imagination is soaring. Keeping the reader in the mental moment is key. However, most important is the humanity of the writer: her/his understanding of the human dilemma. How do we manifest the wonderful aspects of being alive, being afraid, being turned on, being hurt. and being fulfilled? These are some of the questions I see worth exploring. Anyone up for the ride?
