Greetings & Salutations. I'm Kat, and I've been doing volunteer and freelance editing for more than 20 years. I have an exceptional grasp of American English (syntax, spelling, grammar, etc.), and a rather strong grasp of British and Australian English. Thus, I will maintain your spelling of colour or paralyse, just as I will maintain your style and tone - you won't get a Dickensian rewrite of a casually written piece. ;) My work is mostly in narrative erotica, that has a complex story - I'm not going to be your best choice for editing gonzo stories where most of the text just explains whose what is where. I also seek fun and exhilarating ways to work consent and accountability into my own erotica, even in the Non-consent/Reluctance category. So, I'm not the right editor for legitimate rape fantasies or erotica where violence is central to the story. Please let me know from the start, if you strictly want me to proofread your story, of if you want notes on context and/or content editing - this can including rewording sentences, restructuring sentences or even suggestions on slightly restructuring the order of events in a story. But regardless of the level of editing you ask for up-front, I will always give you notes on the changes I'm suggesting - I won't just hand you back a rewritten story. Only the author will decide what the final product looks like. For the record, I have NO objections to editing LGBT+ works at all, but as a cis/het woman, I have no personal knowledge of the experiences, emotions or physiological reactions which can be specific to LGBT+ stories - which is the same reason I didn't add BDSM to my category preferences. I think having that knowledge matters, when it comes to anything beyond basic proofreading. But if that's the only kind of editing you're seeking, I am happy to work on (English) stories in ANY category.
