This was a pencil drawing that was scanned and then worked over digitally. I used my own photos of figure models and stock images as visual references.

This should be a fresco in the San Francisco library, ala Diego Rivera/Frieda Kahlo/Emmylou Packard

Looks like me reading it.

Only thing missing are the streaming pushy juices oozing out of my pushy.

Her eyes are very expressive. Without the titles, itlooks like she's a bit shocked at what she's reading. With them, it is a 'withering look", at whomever has dared to interrupt her 'reading'.

This causes a slightly confusing mixed message from her. Since she is responding to someone interrupting her, raising her line of vision a bit would correct the slight confusion.

Yours is some of the better hand drawn art work I've seen on Lit. (Mind, this is the only work of yours, I've seen.) Might I suggest you do some concentrated work on hands and feet.? The human body is the most difficult object to draw, followed closely by the head and neck. I've seen a lot of amateur art where it looks like the model has had a permanently disfiguring injury to their neck.

You've nailed the proportionality between her head, neck, and her upper torso.

I studied Sports Medicine as an undergrad, and was lucky enough to go to school where the multiple term anatomy class had human cadavers to study. We didn't do the dissection, as medical students do, but have a real body, even though they all were dissected, previously, added a wonderful dimension to studying anatomy.

Nearly 14 years working in the field of Sports Medicine allowed me the opportunity to see both female and male bodies in near perfect physical condition, providing a great opportunity to see the human body, both static, and in motion.

Combine the visual, with tactile learning and skill necessary for physically examining a body part either after an injury to determine the mechanism of injury, or during the sometimes months long rehabilitation, (in surgical cases), to assess progress,

These two aspects of e practice of Sports Medicineas well as 40+ years of massage experience,

Massage, even as effective as it can be, if well applied, is not used as much as one might think in Sports Medince, it is too time intensive, especially if working in a college setting, where athletes from multiple sports are seen. professional sports provides a bit more time, since you are managing the prevention & treatment of injuried athletes for only your team, but even a baseball team can be up to 40 players! If extended massage therapy is indicated for either the prevention, or rehab of an injury, the player is referred to someone else.

Most of my massgae experience has been acquired in my personal life, where I can invest the time to fully utilize the full range of massage techniques on friends, or family. Some amazing, almost magical, things can be accomplished merely by the skilled use of the hands on the human body.

All of these non-art related skills and practices are a wonderful training ground for artistry focussed on the human body; I am a polyglot by nature, anf practice, but I've never had a strong desire to draw, to the point I could skillfully translate what I have in my mind's eye through my hands, into a visual representation. My sketching and drawing abilities are mediocre, but I have developed an 'eye' for it.

If life was 2-3 times longer, I'd likely have to time to develop my drawing skills. I can draw a great 'toaster', a human body demands much more practice! LOL

Proportion between body parts has to be perfect, and the hands and feet are the most difficult of the body parts to get right. Their size, proportion and condition have to match the gender, the work background, each other, and the rest of thr body, as well as the position and 'setting' of the model.

When I saw Michaelangelo's David, I happened to be standing with one of the greatest baseball pitchers to ever play the game, Sandy Koufax. Michaelangelo captured 'the situation' perfectly with his sculpture; it was something I never realized until I saw the work, firsthand, and up close.

David is holding a stone, and you can see how his body is preparing to throw, each part of of his body is perfectly captured, in the act of preparation to throw. He was like looking at a weight loaded spring, held back by a mechanism, (mental in his case); just waiting, and hungering ti be unleashed, so it might do its' job. In this case, the statue gave a feeling the throw would be as perfect as the representation.

It was one of the most astounding works I saw in 3+ weeks in Italy; the majority spent viewing art. Even after 30 years, I still am moved by the statue of David, and its obvious, and hidden, perfection and greatness.

On the subject of hands, I discovered a depression era film posted on YouTube several years ago. The govt's CWP, (civilian works project, I think was the name of the program), did a lot to put artists to work during the Depression. Lots of art was created, while at the same time trying to recover our economy.

Also, there was much fewer mediums for visual art, hell, TV didn't exist, motion pictures were in their infancy.

Anyway, General Motors, specifically the Chevrolet division did a promotional film about the actual, step by step of crafting a new car from raw materials to the end product. The unique, and amazingly artful aspect was it was done completely through the observation of thr workers' hands.

You see dozens and dozens of hands, performing every aspect of building the newest model of Chevrolet. Shot in film, with very talented cinematographers, it is a marvel to watch. I think it's callled The Hands of a Craftsman, but don't hold me to it. It is worth the time it might take you to find it on YT. Well worth it, both for the visual art, but it has a tremendous soundtrack, (I want to say it was the Detroit Philharmonic performing, but I could be mixing it up with a different depression era auto film.

Regardless, it is a superbly written, and performed soundtrack, combined with an obscure, but tremendous visual art works.

Thanks for sharing your art.
