Note: This is a comment I left in GeorgeAnderson’s LW story Friday. I don’t mean to pick on him (or anyone else I name drop here), but for folks who’ve read their stories, there may be some themes that are common, so I wrote about them.

Go back through the years, to stories long posted
You'll see umpteen takes on this site that are hosted,

Of tales of deception, of tales told o' woe,
Of good women chaste, and of course, of the ho'

Good men with hearts torn right from the breast,
Their sadness unending, their joy in arrest

The stories are crafted from stock, common tropes
Wove tight like the noose in a hangman's ropes

Said women are crafty, with heads full of smarts
It's faith they're lacking, when surrendering hearts

Some sweet talk, some pleas, from lips fey and sly
Go right to the place, where true love shall die

Brainy women can't think, no thoughts in their heads
When a Loving Wives cad makes a play for their beds

We're told jilted husbands have no hope they could match
The stud’s iron hold on his Loving Wife’s snatch

“You’re jealous,” they say “He’s only my friend!”
Of course, they fall prey to the scam in the end.

And wives never worry, about plans foul and crass
"My hubby won't mind, he kisses my ass!"

“I’ll make it all up, he’ll see it won’t matter,
It’s just sex for me, our bonds they won’t shatter!”

But it's the men in these tales, we're told, have the stuff
Of both morals and spine, keeping faith when it’s rough

“Is it weakness?” I think, as I’m reading along
“Why won’t the man fight to right such a wrong?”

Good men are just dumb, the storyline states
His kindness a flaw, such stereotype fates

He’s passive, he watches, the wife falls ever deeper
He says “She’ll come back, I know; she’s a keeper!”

Plot twists so contrived, keep the husband at bay,
“Fuck this”, I yell out, “who’s writing this play?”

The ill deed has been done, the battle’s been lost,
These good men are written, left counting the cost

Of lives torn asunder and relationships gone
A good wife now sour, stained sheets in the dawn

“How could you do this, when you said you were mine?
Our lives shall be split, along a court-ordered line!”

“My split will be less, since no judge would abide
Holding a whore to account, screw the man, let it slide”

Broken hearted, we’re told, no justice awaits
Reconciliation is best, this ending he hates

The author determined when weaving this plot,
Real life is for suckers, he’s stuck with the THOT

Authors like George, RG and the rest
Have an ending they think makes their story the best

“Ignore all her whoring, come back wayward man,
You’ll see in the end, to reconcile is the plan

“Your ego’s been bruised, in fact it’s torn gory
But trust me when I say: this here is a better story!

“The readers don’t know what’s best as an ending!”
The commenters cry, one-star votes they’re sending

Burn the Bitch is too much for many such tales,
SEALs and hackers are few, how ‘bout just a male

Who stands up to his wife, when her smarts take their leave
And reasons it out, ‘fore said couple’s bereave?

If these women are so smart, why are they such trouble?
For a fresh end, it’s said, the author’s work would be double

Try writing in rhyme, it’s tough as a mode
Tropes about Smart Women, here is your ode.
