Angel Personified

I've been looking for a reason
All this had to happen to me.
I've been looking for a reason,
A flash of clarity.

He is my reason.
Everything was erased
In order that I may cleave to him,
Lean on him,
Learn from him.
In order that I may let go of what I thought was my dream.
My dreams have changed so that I may fully embrace
The love I have for him.
He is my angel.
My guardian through the storm.
He has learned enough to guide me,
But we travel together
Down every twisting trail that life throws at us.
I look at him now,
Angel personified,
Innocence and love,
Radiating from his skin.
Some see a naked man,
I see my angel.
He has changed me.
Opened my eyes
To things I never could have imagined.
He has taught me to live for others,
Not just myself
I preach open mindedness,
But until I met him,
I was a hypocrite.
Gazing at him now,
I am overcome
By the beauty of his body and soul.
This angel cannot possibly be mine.
I reach out tentative fingers
And touch his skin.
He grumbles and rolls over,
He is real.
He is human.
I feel his heartbeat as I snuggle close
His arms wrap around me
In a gentle embrace
Providing peace, security, and love
To last the rest of my life.
