Click hereTo the Reader: There are two poems here but they work well juxtaposed of one another. I wrote them both on the same morning and they deal with the same theme. They feel like an inhale and exhale, measuring our breath in the passing of a day.
The first is written in extended Haiku form, three stanzas.

Aurora
Trash trucks rumbling
Shades of bright under Venus
Welcoming morning
Chill in my fingers
Warmth found in mugs of coffee
Hearts at a distance
The world fades too soon
Blink and then pleasure is gone
Drifting with the moon

Eventide
We turn our face from the sun
Our known world grows dim than dark
Causing us to grow nervous
Metamorphosis is stark
Vast cascades shimmering bright
Always were there but now seen
Twinkling hi in the night
Sights softer, more beautiful
But this new world is more dim
My heart misses the sun’s binge
the dark and light they twirl around
melancholy in the dancing you found
but which way to turn and find the sun
if shades were forbidden and gone
the night's for dreaming
the day's far more
