"The grand monarchs once more awaken" It took me a while to figure out you were not talking about butterflies, well not too long, but it was kind of trippy thinking about butterfly war. What would that look like?
A poem of spring and the cycle and struggle of life.
Where the metaphor is all nature as aspects of mankind.
An interesting choice and well constructed.
but this poem depends more on composition than on creating any emotion in the reader.
It would be stronger if the metaphoric subtlety did not reduce the "feel" of the life.
It is an enlightening read.
Your use of wording is quite unique and I appreciate your approach. At first I wasn't sure if I would finish reading, but became captured by your use of descriptive words. Thank you and keep up the good work!
It just had to be YDD who'd use the perfect word to describe this piece - anthropomorphic. Here is the whole of the natural world described in human terms. See how many creatures you can identify.
This poem was mentioned in the Archival Review thread, in a picking through Lit's archive of over 34,000 poems.
