“Come on in,” the barker said, “step right through the door.
See what’s waiting for you there, come on and explore.
See the wonders, take them in, a paradise on earth.
What’s the charge you’re asking me? Tell me what it’s worth.”

Wide-eyed now, I stare at him, the door is in my view.
What won’drous things are hiding there, is it really true
That just beyond that tight closed door lies a world of dreams?
Just a step or two away, at least that’s how it seems.

“Come on boy,” the barker shouts, “the folks can’t see the sign.
You’re blockin’ everybody’s view and holdin’ up the line.”
“Imagine what’s behind that door,” he whispers in my ear.
“In two more days, I’ll close this place, and it will disappear.”

My heart beats fast, my mind’s confused, I don’t know what to do.
No other world can match that one – do you suppose that’s true?
My mind expands, fills up with dreams, I think it may explode.
“Come on, come on,” the barker shouts. “Go in or hit the road.”

“I’m in!” I shout, “please let me through,” the door is just ahead.
My brain is filled with pictures, and with thoughts I leave unsaid.
A place of castles in the air, where I can go to hide,
At last I’m at that mys’try door, I swing it open wide.

What I see beyond the door now takes me by surprise.
The sight is so amazing it brings tears into my eyes.
It strikes me such a mighty blow, how could I be so blind,
For what I see beyond the door is what I’d left behind.
