Very moving

It is very interesting to think about what it is you bring to a poem like this.

I could say sincerity but an awful lot of writers here are very, dreadfully sincere when they write words similar to this – yet there is a hollowness to what they write.

That word hollowness is a good word. It as though we knock on a tree that is their words and what is behind them – and get that hollow, unhealthy sound. But when we knock on Oldbear’s we get that true sound of oak or cedar.

Put another way (and I am feeling a bit that way) it is as though we look at the hallmark on a piece of silver and we see that not only is it solid silver but it is Georgian silver (you know, from back when you lot were still British).

Basically I am saying that it is very moving.
