Filling In The Gaps

I do my best to
fill in the gaps
for you.
To give you
what she doesn’t.

talking or
listening or
appreciation or

every night.
I let other men
take me out
take me to dinner
take me home
take me to bed.
I let them touch me.
kiss me
hold my hand
fuck me.

I know you don’t like it.
But if I don’t do it
I am too jealous
too angry
too sad
to enjoy loving you.
I need the distraction.
I need the tit for tat.
I need you to know
what it feels like
to be jealous angry sad
when the person you love
is with someone else.

So when you are
thinking about me
doing those things
with other men
remember
you have a woman
who doesn’t
do those things
with you
and you stay married
to her
anyway.
