Graduation Day.
How I’ve looked forward to thee.
That magical day,
When I become a Raven Alumnus.
Farewell to Carleton.

So many memories,
So many enemies,
So many friends,
So many difficulties.

So much hardship,
So many shenanigans,
So much trouble,
So many sleepless nights.

All I got for it,
Is this piece of paper,
Which I shall treasure,
Until the day I die.

Tasson, Dominique, Shari, Hussein, Afaf, Gordon,
Bilal, Sevgi, Jesslyn, Nesochi, and so many others,
Countless wonderful faces and names.

Great teachers,
Bad teachers,
Good teachers,
Wonderful teachers.
All taught me a lot.

Patience, hard work, passive aggression, treachery,
Love, hate, cooperation, competition, all those things,
I learned to embrace and reject while on campus.

Stoicism was my answer to racism,
Resilience was my answer to hardship,
Perseverance was my answer to administrative obstruction,
And so I win.

Let the world beware,
A Strong Black man is rising,
Knocking down all obstacles,
None can oppose,
The beating of a Haitian heart,
Not even Canada.

You lack talent, sir. You have determination, but you lack talent.

What?

How could you be graduating with your writing "skills"?
