Can it be morning?

Or have we only light enough
To feel the shadows drawing in?

This madness of the heart
That binds us skin to skin
And face to face
Or void to void
Perhaps you feel as I?

That creatures such as we
Can curl like birch wood burning
Suffering
Afraid?

Until something precious
Comes alight within
Sets our hearts and all our
Secret parts aflame
Speaks in tongues and
Teaches truth

It is no sin
To dispel the darkest shadows
In the hour before dawn.
