A deserted island in a great, blue swirl.
Searching the oysters here, searching for a pearl.
With the mind, body and soul growing weary,
The castaway both awaits and is leary
Of rescuers to come but seem so distant.
Capricious weather—its changes are instant.
No shelter from the storms and the tidal waves.
Remains of the forebears rest in unmarked graves.
Trying to find reasons to smile all the while—a speck in the blue swirl, a deserted isle.
