On the beach
a single flower had grown out of the sand
wavering in the breeze
it called to me
take me from this land
I took it home
as it blossomed in my hand
I gently stroke the softest pedals
and tasting the sweet nectar
upon my lips
I wanted her for my own
it was not lost on me
this could not be
the little flower never promised
anything more.
All to soon
I would have to return it to the shore
back at the beach
on one knee
I lifted it to the wind
with a tear in my eye
I watched it blowing out to sea
silently praying the fickle wind
might someday
bring it back to me
who could have guessed
who would have known
one tiny little flower in the sand
could reach a place
so deep inside this man
