The Lament of a Mistress is a typical scenario where The Mistress needs more than a weekly scheduled meeting & is really looking for a relationship which is not forthcoming. The Mistress will comply with the situation but is secretly hoping for more. There must be so many people in this awkward situation & this poem reflects that image.
