has been mentioned in NPR. A 5. I like some of it, some of it drones
my diet, largely pills.
The blue ones no longer work,
not even to jerk.
but I figure it was the pills.
the memory-steps each contrasting 'then' with 'now', and certain phrases, i have to say i found the poem that hit me was written in those first 6 lines, the first two of which i'd still lose. those four lines and the title are, for me, what stand out. it is visual, full of life, switches on us without notice to take the breath away...
Ah! We were immortal then!
Until that night--guys skinny dipping in the lake,
a carload of girls gawking, screaming;
one of us failed to re-surface.
ok, it makes for a whole different poem, and i apologise if my comments feel out of place, but it's what i'm left with having read the rest.
