Click hereOne by one the words do fall
‘till the verse is writ and I’ve used them all.
But I’ll admit that I broke a rule.
Not all words are a shining jewel.
When you write your words declaring love
and forget the name of your little dove,
there are no ifs or buts, and there is no maybe.
It’s cheating if you fake it and call her baby.
I will admit that many of my favorite song writers use the word all the time and I love their songs. Somehow, this silliness just got stuck in my brain and the only way to get rid of it was to write it down. Thank you for not being too harsh in your comments.
I hear you, but then I remember some of those great old classics by the Supremes (Baby Love), and Smokey Robinson (Ooh Baby Baby), etal. I guess I like some music despite the lyrics and some because of them, like the great love songs by Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Willy Nelson, etc. For a good chuckle, compare their lyrics to Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ lyrics - “Baby, baby, baby, oh, Like baby, baby, baby, no!”
.
‘Saying Baby’ is a fun, thought provoking contemplation. Thanks much.
