The Science Times says olive trees can live to be 1500 years old.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Branches shriveled, leaves gone dry
Brown and brittle with age
I have lost count of all the years
I’ve stood upon this stage.
Decades of plenty I have seen
Followed by those of hunger,
Wars and battles waged for centuries
By the unending urge of anger.
The time of prophets and prophecies,
The time of seers and enlightenment,
The time of kings and conquerors,
They came, they stayed… then went.
Some fell to doubt and heresy
Others vanquished by religion,
While others were beaten by the swords
Of a much mightier legion.
And so I stand here old and bent
And soon my life will cease
And with its end, so too my tale,
The forgotten emblem of peace.

I know achieving world peace is all but impossible but perhaps if we could apply our talents for making war toward finding a cure for cancer or MS or Parkinson's or Dementia....

The current pandemic has, at least, triggered an almost worldwide effort to come up with a vaccine against Covid19, the test results seem to be promising.

Thank you once again for reading. <3

Life can be so harsh. Our past record as humans is filled with error and regret. Moving forward, perhaps that symbol of hope will not die in vain.

An ageless tragedy, the next war never the last. Progress in warfaring only, not in peacekeeping.
