It's
not what she thought it would
Be getting older she
Thought she would find herself
Rising into the parts
Filling out corners and
Reaching her dreams but they
Float away faster than
She can grow worst of all
They don't even look back.

The
Body is weaker the
Will has been vulcanised
Subject to wearing out
Burning on asphalt it's
Bound to endure it is
Pressed into service to
Keep her progressing in
Spite of her suffering
Waking up at all hours

Age
Is just a number but
Interest accrues and the
Debt must be paid baton
Passed wisdom atrophied
God forbid fungible
Ashes to ashes and
Egg on her face no more
Aces to play nothing
Left to trade but carbon

The older I get, the more I appreciate the wisdom and kindness and beauty of the women in my life.

Your poem is excellent!

Thank you for the feedback guys XXX

DFR112, time a pretty convincing illusion and I don't have patience for meditation so I'm stuck with it, at least for this lifetime šŸ˜˜

Maydaypilot beautiful words much appreciated ā™„ļø

ElorraButler, yes! I mean I honestly wasn't thinking about gender when I wrote it but 1000% yes šŸ¤£ fuck Botox, surgery etc. Women are also more likely to get the life squeezed out of them, caught caring for children and the older generation at once, invisibly holding things together at the expense of their of precious years and sanity. Definitely another poem or two in that idea šŸ˜˜

The forbidden aging female. Double standards that need to be abolished. Xxx Woman age gracefully, warriors to the end.

This haunting poem deftly illuminates the ache within.

"Time is an illusion." - Albert Einstein.

Attempting to guide that which is an illusion is often known as "Lucid Dreaming." With practice, one might be able to affect it.
