I long for the day the door opens
And I don’t catch my breath.
I hope for you to fade
But the biggest chance of that is death.

I crave the grip of your hands
And your breath on my neck.
I can shove those memories aside
But I can never forget.

The taste of your kiss
As my body arched in pleasure
Your grip on my waist keeping perfect tempo
Measure by measure.

The slickness of sweat
And the beat of our hearts.
The sound of us making love
Over Daniel Cesar’s The Best Part.

I replay a memory
Again and again
It was so perfect
It could’ve been pretend.

I was splayed out in bed
Freshly fucked and a mess.
You kissed me so tenderly
And placed your head on my chest.

You leaned up on your elbow
And moved a strand of my hair
You looked at me and said, “Baby,
You are so beautiful no one can compare.”

I told you to hush
That I was naked and exposed.
You said, “Baby I know places of you
That no one else does.

I’ve seen all your faces
And I’ve loved every one.
I’ve tasted all of your flavors
Each in moments full of fun.

Look at our bodies in the mirror
One so dark and one so light.
Baby you are so perfect
And this is so right.”

And just as I believed
This tale that you spun
The very second I was ready to choose you
And say you were the one

My doubt turned to truth
And your words became lies
One of my best memories
Forever became a disguise

Of something once so beautiful,
Sincere and full of life
My overflowing heart
Slit and broken with your knife

You lied and I loved it
And I will forever be a fool
You lied and I believed it.
Your body and your words, your tool.
