among the knightress uniforms
the bright shoulder length
hunting leather balls
and society alike
dyed to stand out
a game-changer
on and off the field

bright dyed lengths
to catch eyes lurking
and strip the monsters
from their sheep's clothing
the spotlight's attention
irradiating the abyssal shades
on common and unequal grounds

a closet warrior
off-grass bystander
in old-school uniform
feet longing to flee the loafers
and fill studded gazelle boots
escaping from home all alone
horizons waiting to be captured
legions gathered, united on the fields

What a lovely poignant ode to old warriors, many of whom are often forgotten.
