(A dadburn pome by CeVin_ChienElle)

It lit on the sill at four-thirty in the morning
(the mockingbird I mean)
and tuned up for a bit
a few inches from my pillow
or so I surmise since I slept through that part

--but I'm pretty sure it happened since
they always tune up--

and then burst into warbling, emulating
room-filling, high-volume
avian pop top-forty
joyous borrowed-birdsong

that made me understand
in a very special way

that really

truly

that morning

that instant

was the right time

to let the cat out.

Nice build-up and clever punch line in the end.

Thanks for sharing.
