Sympathy for the devil never
satiates the urge
to hold our demons
in a bear hug until they remember that
after all,

they are soft-
A lofty cause

to maintain relationships with ships
already sailed in the distance.
Send my regards
to existence

from the vast spaces
              we inhabit.
It's a classic

case of conditioning
and we're salivating
at any sign of
            balance.

It so happens
we are the tightropes we aim to walk on
