Very well written. I especially liked the second stanza.
"A drama would suit us both well
so edge forward
feign friendship
let us begin."
Wonderfully cheerful sarcasm. I love it!
This is a poem that illustrates the whole gamut of meeting someone new and does it very well. You've made me want a bit of infatuation ... This poem is mentioned on the New Poems Review thread on Literotica's Poetry Feedback and Discussion forum.
The entire poem is a perfect description. And this part is sensational: Subdued for years my pupils blast with glee
it really brings out the "drugged" feeling of that first flush of excitement at flirtation and new connections. Nicely done!
