Click hereThe Chilling Birth of an Emperor
Eighty below and a blizzard blows
over the arctic ice and snow
a cracked egg between two legs
rests on a penguin's toes.
When a little beak takes a peek
at the white world outside its shell
continually trying to shed its confines
a baby bird bursts, into a frozen hell.
The father with love picks it up from above
tucks it into a bed of feathered fur
enchantingly genuine, a baby penguin
the chilling birth of an Emperor.
All the clouds gathered and witness this sight
born is a bird that will never take flight.
about a hot topic with everyone's love of penguins. Billie
This tale took me to the bottom of the world, like a little National Geographic Special.

With an Easter so cold, what could be better than to read of the perils and joys of Antarctic life?
Awww...this is cute. Nice to read a cute, fuzzy birdy poem. :)

i mentioned this poem in the new poem review thread in the poetry forum - wildsweetone
All very well and nicely descriptive with one tiny geographic detail out of place — I think you could have kept everything intact if you'd said antarctic instead. Still, making for creative allowances, a most enjoyable little piece.
