A name can be like a coat.
Worn as a shield against the world.
A line of defence, a bastion moat.
Armour fitted against you skin.
To ward off verbal arrows.
From foes, outside and within

A name can express you
It can make you who you are
Can show your gathered feelings
Can burn a brightened star

A name can shout loud
Announcing for all to hear
You are standing, tall and proud.
Ready to fight, hold the line
An onslaught of daily woes
Readied stance it does define

A name can be a label
A badge carefully arranged
Or just worn as a coat
And with the weather changed.
