New Year's was quiet but cheery. I opened a bottle of champagne and found some 40's music we danced to. It was mild and I brought Oliver and his crib to the deck, where he slept while I took turns with all three women. Natalie had a very small glass of champagne, saying Oliver didn't need alcohol in his milk at the moment. At midnight, we watched fireworks in the valley below. The New Year promised to be complicated and we were hardly there.

RRC2over 1 year agoThis is amazingly good. It has the strokes, but is tempered by good writing, wonderful characters and a writer with his/her heart in the right place. There are one off jokes that set up the feel good for the whole chapter (such as the doctor's initial welcome in this chapter).
But then the author gets to the baby. You just don't get better than that. You feel your heart reaching out to the baby. Amazing.
