This is the 2nd time I’ve read Ghost and, if possible, it was better than the first go round.
Thanks for the fantastic story and writing.
Thankyou for a truly amazing story of raw Emotions and personal turmoil while recovering from loss. An emotional journey worth every second spent reading!
Third time reading it and it tears me up just as hard this time as the earlier ones with the power of the emotions you describe.
It is one of my favorites, and though I have read it before, I love reading again and again.
Wow... Chapters 8 and 9 were hard... I was bawling... Very emotional story... Great job on the writing as always...
When I saw this listed as one of Brokenspokes’ favorites I figured it would be good, and I was very right! A beautiful story, thank you.
This story is fantastic…the only story to ever make me cry. It resonates so much of my relationship with my now ex (the dead wife won😢) so well written. And a true fairytale ending. Well done Carey
There were many times I wished someone would kick Cal'state ass. Really well done, thank you 5*
I first read this many months ago and have found the story again. I absolutely adore the story and the characters you depict. It's not often you sit & read something and have a smile plastered your face due to the words, such as the fun flirty banter between the two main characters.
At times, I was frustrated with Cal for not wanting to follow her heart with Annie, but thank God they got there in the end :).
If I could rate this more than 5 stars, I would ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yet another great story!
More very relatable and likable characters!
I really like the way you tell a story!
Thanks again!
Just read this for the second time around, it loses nothing and tbh I probably got more detail, but was more frustrated by Cal’s slavish need to be a martyr to Becca’s memory. That said, the comment re it being a carefully crafted story is so on the money, not sure about it only being about that ending though, I think that was the authors equivalent of the “Big Number Finish” usually found in musicals etc, proper job though!
Many thanks for writing and posting, cheers Ppfzz.
This a story, carefully crafted from its first word, just to stage that fantastic ending.
Deny it if you can! Cause I know you can't.
This is a screen play waiting to happen. I almost never pay to see a movie in the theater, but this I would gladly pay for.
Just finished reading it for the 5th time. Thank you for a fantastic story. Keep up the good work.
Just gave this story 5 🌟's. The writing is high quality and well-paced. I really like the characters and their development. I also have a soft spot for stories like this one.
I do, however, wish Becca had appeared in person to tell Cal that a new love would not dishonor the past. :-)
Sorry for my recent comment. I confused you with Broken Spokes, about the story:
The Journey.
one of the best story from one of the best writer on this site.
Annie is the best character an author could write about. HER story one of the best and each appearance in carey thomas universe showed a person who is funny, had character and she cared about friends. Just ask Alex or Sienna.
I have read this story over & over and each time it has nearly brought me to tears every time. you are a superb author keep up the great writing.
Wow! What a fantastic and moving story. The characters were amazing.
Thank you :) xx
Used to teach about bereavement and grief. Portrayal of Cal's dilemmas - fear of forgetting, being disrespectful to memories v. moving forward, attraction, loving and need -are spot on. If this wasn't on Literotica I'd be getting students to read it.
As Ras Tanura, I dubbed it the Makiverse and we need to read more of Alex, Jess and their world. Include all the wonderful people who inhabit that magic place.
5 stars.
An entertaining read.
Excellent character development using inner thoughts and conversations to create realistic characters. All the characters are so well portrayed that it is impossible not to love them, warts and all.
I think the plot was predictable. I accurately guessed where the story was going on page 2.
I cannot imagine anyone, even a saint like Annie, flogging a dead horse for nearly a year while silently tolerating the sanitized idealized memory of a ghost.
Somewhere in that time surely Annie should have put out feelers to find out exactly what was going on? To ask what she could do to help the situation.? To determine a time frame?
For her to wait a whole year before just issuing a question with only a yes or no answer is merely flirting with disaster and a severe shortcoming in the plot.
I know Cal was the lawyer not Annie, but Courtroom 101 is don't ask questions you don't know what the answer will be.
Sales Technique 101, don't ask a question you haven't convinced the client to give the answer you want.
And yes, Annie was a salesman. As a small business owner in the service industry, every client she had was there coz she had sold to them. She knew what to do. She knew what had to be done. She knew the technique of how to start the conversations giving both her and Cal plenty of comfortable back out room.
She was not the village idiot type, smiling happily all day while working hard bending bananas in the fruit factory.
Nor was she working merrily down at the bakery cutting the holes out of donuts.
She was a competent business owner and employer. She knew what had to be done and also had all the abilities to achieve her goal in her personal life.
An excellent story though.
When can we expect some more stories about the Makiverse? I read Annie and Cal's tale again and loved it more. We miss you.
Fellow readers:
I first encountered the so-called Alexandra Makiverse" in with "Could You Be Mine?" and enjoyed it so much I started in on the rest of the collected works of careythomas. Each of the successive stories can stand on its own, as I say with "Could You Be Mine?" But the author herself suggests a reading order, in the notes she's included under the "Biography" tab of her Literotica profile. If, gentle reader, you follow her prescribed order, I assure you your appreciation of these stories will be enhanced. She is a masterful literary craftsman, and she has created a fully engaging fictional universe.
As fiction it it not real life. Dialog is specially crafted, not natural. Characters, even as well conceived and well developed as we see here, are not the complex melange of good and evil we experience in the real world. And yet the idealized, romanticized world we savor in this chapter of the Makiverse is precious beyond words. Nothing could make the case for gay marriage better than the writings of careythomas. Nowhere else have I found a better, richer depiction of family life among same-sex couples, including the effect on young children.
The world is a better place because of careythomas and her Makiverse. I am deeply grateful to her.
Ye Gods, simply one of the best written love stories here. So pleased they actually made it but the torments and troubles on their journey were almost too much. So many tear inducing moments. Cannot believe this has not come up in recommendations before but so pleased it now has.
Excellent. Easily 5⛤
This was so perfect! So sweet, so passionate. Everything a woman's heart desires. Thanks for this beautiful story!
What a wonderful story, consuming the entire range of emotions. Loved it.
Thank you for sharing…
I thought this was going to be all erotic, and when I started reading it maybe 2 or 3 pages in I almost gave up. It was sounding like a stereotypical dime romance novel, but without the sex. And then I kept reading which lead to me being sad for them both and crying and then happy for them and crying again! And at the end with the song and the love with the whole family, all the emotion hit. You've done more emotionally in 12 pages than 90% of the romance genre I've ever read. The sex parts were alright, but I'm more interested in their wedding, do they decide to have more kids? This could be a complete series and I would read every. single. one. Keep up the wonderful work ❤
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!
When you come to Literotica all hot and heavy, and an entire afternoon later end up smiling at the ceiling with teary eyes and a content heart, deeply contemplating existence!
I will never get over this story, my god!
Beautiful story. Is it weird that I pictured Brie Larson as Callan the entire time? Love all your stories though. You’re a great author.
Look, this just isn't fair. I came here for sexytimes and you made me FEEL THINGS 🥰😭🥺
A very well written story. You are a masterful storyteller. I laughed, then cried, then grumbled at Cal.
Thank you.
tedi
Great story very well written. I lost a wfe of 20 years to cancer and despite women throwing themselves at me it was over a year before I could even think about sex or another love. However, that is very unusual for a male. I had a phenomenal marriage. Wonderful love story!
A very long read and almost no sex. Judged as erotica this is pretty weak.
Goodness! What a wonderful story! It actually made me laugh several times! Enjoyed your story immensely! Thank you! Very nice! *Claps*
Of all of your stories this is my favorite. I read this one first and after reading all the others it is still my favorite after reading it again. Cried both times while reading it. Thank you.
Good story annie .cal had some issues i see thankyoy for being a good ftiend .
Redemption, Romance...and just enough nicely written romping to make it fun!
Thank you.
Ahhh so good. Everytime I read it and its soooo good. Happy happy feelings
Thanks
I could not stop reading this story had to finish when I started reading and hope you careythomas will write more stories like this it was fantastic reading I only read this to-day and it is very real to life thank you. xxx
Someone please tell me that this author has published work outside of Literotica!
I need to give them my money. Seriously! Does anyone know if this author has published novels? Seems like the writing is way too good not to be from a published author. Help me find it!
Love all your stories!! Would be awesome to read more of Meghan and kt’s story
The delicate descriptions of happenings the simple things we like to ignore - tapsies on the floor for example - all the details are making this and all of your stories so breathtaking
Thank you .... Amazingly wonderful
I absolutely adored this love story. It’s well-written, funny, sad, beautiful, and joyous. I read it straight through in one sitting. I was so enthralled, I even forgot to go to the restroom! :-) <3
came to the site today looking for a quick jill, but uh, wow, didn't expect to be enthralled for a couple hours - complete with laughter and tears and delight at the finest little disaster lesbian story I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy.
I just re-read this wonderful story, Carey. Like the first time, it gripped me by the throat, shook me around and churned up my insides. I love it! Need I say more?
This is my third or fourth time reading this story, and I absolutely love it! Thank you for sharing it with us!
What a beautiful story, so sweet and romantic and down-to-earth normal life and love and loss and sadness and joy, in such a strong lesbian setting
I need to know there is more to this series. More, very readable, creations coming from your beautiful imagination. Whilst the story lines are repetitive. Your writing creates real people right there on the page. People you cannot stop yourself from caring about, from taking deep into your heart and holding them dear. Your dialogue is of the real world. Your characters are deep, well crafted, and consistent, not twisting to fit the plot. I have sent you feedback. I have googled your name to see if you are available elsewhere. Alas, you seem to have disappeared. Please tell us where we can get more of this fantastic writing.
This is hands down the best story of this site. If it were a movie it would be one of those I’ve watched a dozen times.
Like everyone else, I can only search for superlatives. You took me through a heart-wrenching journey on the way to the perfect ending. A true artist with words - and emotions. Thank you.
...beautifully told, and I loved every moment of it. You have an awesome storytelling gift, and you write beautifully too.
I found your canon just a couple of days ago (Who knew that I might find good stories by clicking on the "Top Rated" link?) and I have not been able to stop reading. I am simply blown away by your storytelling.
I won't bore you with poorly phrased praises. I'm sure you've heard it all before from your legion of fans. I only want to beg your for more. Pretty please?
That was a great story. I thought it was wonderfully told and the story bulidup made it almost heartbreaking; thanks to some kicks in the but by one very well-minded mother-in-law finally made her see it.

An actual story! Not just sex. Eventually, there is, but nothing like the typical stories. This is more like a romance novel. It was good!
Type this up, package it, send it to BellaBooks or Boldstroke Books for one of their editors and you are the next Gerri Hill.
Nice
Just shows that erotica does not have to be constant sex. The build up to that precious page was so captivating. I'm going to want to read this again I'm sure in a few months, it's just so well written. Thank you.
I just had to read this lovely story once again. Puts a great big smile on my face every single time.
Your writing simply touches my heart. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent with us.
Something new each time I've read it. I'm up to three.
And the Ansonia is at 73rd and Broadway. It has a Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ansonia There was a shoot-out there in the movie "Three Days of the Condor".
this was such a beautiful piece of writing! made me smile and laugh, brought tears to my eyes and the sex scenes were a perfect amount of sexiness and creative story writing! thank you so much
One of the most outstanding stories I have read here!
Found you listed in another author's Favorites, I am I glad that I did.
Very well done, and an Instant Favorite, one that I will be more than happy to read again.
5 very well earned stars, and my gratitude for you writing it.
Just such a wonderfully written story. I'm so impressed with your ability to seamlessly weave two first person narratives together. On top of NO noticeable grammatical errors, this was just a joy to read. But now I have to read all your other work. Oh, woe is me.
Although Im male and now in my 50s, my wife passed when she was only 24 and I 25. We had a daughter who was 2 at the time. A few months later I met a fantastic young woman who I spent a lot of time with, unlike the story not only was I too stupid to realise she was in love with me, but I had no one close to tell me as my family lived at the other side of the UK at the time. It was only a chance meeting on holiday almost 20 years later that I found out how she had felt, but sadly by then she was married ......... this story reminded me of that time
Really well written and engaging story. Kept me intrigued and wanting to know how it ended.
I almost didn't read this story and man am I glad I chose to. The characters and plot are totally captivating and have a depth to them that just hits all the feelings. I'll admit that I don't cry a lot but I did get misty eyed a few times while reading this beautiful story.
I just love this story so much that I keep coming back to read it again and again. It's beautiful and romantic.
I sense a story about KT brewing in the background here.
I got bored waiting for new stories to be posted, so I've been going back and rereading some of my favorites, and this one came up in the rotation. I just can't get over how good this story is! Thanks for sharing it with us, and I'm hoping you publish some new material soon!
Ok, the end was so good that even if you had done no detailed sex it would 't have hurt the story at all. I say that as a almost 50 year old "straight" but seriously genderqueer guy lol. This kind of story hits everything I dream of. Thanks!
This was absolutely gorgeous.
Also, I almost died laughing at the "Jesus, Becca. I know you liked Ghost, but do you have to go all Asian-Over-Achiever in terms of paranormal communications?" line!
I love all you're stories but A ghost of a chance is the best!! Annie is the best and my favorite character. Thank you for this beautiful story careythomas
it's now 4am - only 3 hours of sleep now , but so very worth it and yes i'm crying . oh wow what a story. thank you so very much. many hugs from me - sarah.
Masterful use of emotional conflict with these two women in love yet the circumstances delaying their connection almost fatally. The genuine feelings created for the departed Becca and the children, really made the story felt.
The sad thing about these stories is that real life pales in comparison in that one's dreams and desires for such a connection--doesn't happen.
Thanks for making me feel it!
I did so tremendously enjoy myself reading this. Almost the entire spectre of human emotions was visited, sadness, joy, excitement, romance, stubbornness, optimism, but above all love - not only romantic love, love of and for parents, children, siblings, friends ... What's more to say?
