Does every writer always have to include another guy in the mother son or son and other women stories

All the character building and deep story always hints to bigger stories and more and then you stop suddenly with a clear open end. Which makes it more difficult for you in the end. Having so many stories with open ends which could be continued, some you did some you just left dead.
