Why Rights?

Why does he need to know his rights with the boyfriend screaming how he killed her. They read you your rights only when you're a suspect, so, he's a suspect or they aren't taking any chances?

Why read rights?

In any murder case, until things are sorted out, rights are read to all the parties involved, otherwise the police run the risk of ruining the case for the D.A. on a technicality.
