"What is?"
She smiled patiently, stepping closer to him. "Dinner. Thanks for helping make dessert for your dad." She kissed him on the cheek. "Welcome to the family," she said. She led him into the foyer and waggled her fingers toward what looked like it must have been the kitchen. He swallowed slowly, glancing back to Haley's self-portrait, thinking again that he had a lot to learn about his new family. And his dad, for that matter.
