Ditto, Beth got more than she deserved, But she can spend the rest of her life earning it (with a hellish prenup in the mix) since everything was ALL her fault.

Good story with plenty of reasonable drama, but reconciliation is a tough pill to swallow on that one. The way you wrote Candy, I though they were going to hook up and was disappointed by the Dan romance.

Sorry, but that ending got this one a 3 Star rating. It is a good story but, that is a cheating bitch whore... Turned gold digger who is already setting demands . He can marry the bitch if he wants to, as long as she signs a restrictive pre nuptial. agreement. Jason cannot be that stupid. Her story does not ring of truth. Her story is an obvious con job, or have you already outlined the next part wherein she sets out to screw him over and he catches on and thwarts her plans ? I hope that is so, anyway .

Good story, all the major plot points were good. You didn't nail the ending. I think rather than the convoluted conversation at the end and Beth saying she'll only be with a man who will marry her, it should have just ended with them kissing or something. Maybe a tiny epilogue showing that Beth and Jason's second marriage went the distance.

AnonymousAnonymous4 months ago

Contrary to some comments on here I liked this story. The ending was a bit too twee for me and felt a bit rushed as well. However it's reasonable for people to still be in love after a divorce. It's also reasonable that the one who screwed up (literally) has an epiphany realises their error and changes. Human beings are capable of that. If the partner can see they have changed realises they are sincere and regretful and still loves them then taking them back isn't such a huge leap. It's not a RAAC because there were conditions. She had to stop being an entitled thoughtless amoral person and become a real adult who cares for others. This is a story where the leopard does indeed change their shorts 😀 and as such it works. HDK missed the target with this one

Usually I enjoy 90% of everything HDK writes, including his reconciliation stories, but this one was a disjointed mess. It started out well enough with the usual clueless, delusional, entitled wife casually announcing that she's going to cheat on her adoring husband but it'll make their marriage better. He didn't explode at her like an impotent moron or listen to her excuses why being a whore was so beneficial to them both, so that was a welcome change from the formula. Unfortunately, after that point things just got terribly boring. We hear a lot about Jason's various occupations, a bunch of smart babble that's vaguely written enough that we get the idea that it was profitable, hear about more various occupations, interspersed with Beth somehow getting a clue and lamenting her stupidity. Too bad she's still really stupid as evidenced by her continuous belief that Jason's dating Candy... even though she's dating Beth's brother... and he never bothered to tell her. Whatever. Then they get together and Jason gets over his angst towards the ex who ripped his heart out in two days. Blah, blah, blah, heart attack as plot device, blah, blah, blah, more uninteresting talk about patents, blah, blah, blah, Dan's boat sank as a plot device, oh hey! Jason and Beth are getting back together! Yeeeeeaaaah. Why, exactly?

So, besides the egregious amount of completely unnecessary filler that was essentially just a platform to introduce Candy and the resulting BIG MISUNDERSTANDING, the biggest problem with this story was the reconciliation. Not because I dislike reconciliations but because this particular one did not pass the "if she weren't hot" criteria. That is to say, if Beth weren't hot, would Jason have given her another chance? The answer to that, is "no." This is a common trope in Loving Wives reconciliations, sadly. JPB uses it a lot, as does RG. We read "she was the hottest fuck ever" a lot in conjunction with reconciliation stories and this is an offshoot of it. Simply put, if the female character in these stories who had done these horrifically selfish, hurtful, disrespectful, and entitled things were plain or even ugly, would the male MC even consider getting back together with them? If the author writes a story in which the answer to that is "yes," then congratulations! Said author has written a clever, well thought out reconciliation story. If the answer is "no," then having them hook back up is unconvincing because looks fade and mistrust is forever.

This story falls into the second category listed above. We get tiny glimpses into Beth realizing that she has the moral compass of an alley cat and some apologies to Jason and his family, but other than that we're not really given ANY justification why getting back together with her is a good idea. Essentially, they hooked back up because Beth's hot and they "still love each other." Needless to say, this is a piss-poor reason to take a chance on anyone who displayed the disgusting untrustworthiness that Beth did. There was no atonement shown, no discussions between the two characters in which she convinces Jason that she really HAS changed her views on fidelity, no examples given of why Beth is a better choice of a girlfriend than any of the countless other women he's met since their divorce, no nothing. Just, "she looks so hot in that bikini" followed by a disgusting monologue where she lists what HE has to do to get her to fuck him which is meant to be a joke but comes off as simply laughable instead. And in what universe does her giving him $25k out of a severance given to her for being a corporate whore equate to half of everything he did with it afterwards belonging to her? You know what? Don't answer, I don't care.

As I said, I like HDK as an author but there's no denying that in his experiments writing he's produced some real stinkers. Sadly, I count this one among them. Although I initially liked the characters of Jason and Dan, I didn't care for the pointless rambling about various jobs he took, the multiple plot devices bogging the plot down, nor the eventual reconciliation ending, even though it was basically telegraphed from the instant Beth's story continued after she was fired from the law firm. I was hoping against hope that it was going to be a red herring and Jason would end up with... basically anyone else, but alas. Can't win them all.

Once again, a LW author has women exchange sex for money, or something else of value, and the husband or boyfriend looking for vengeance doesn’t take the most obvious approach.

Perhaps the MC wouldn’t do this, he just keeps walking away from issues instead of punishing the guilty. However, the other woman’s boyfriend was looking to burn everyone alive.

So, why didn’t he go to the DA to charge the women as hookers, the partners as johns, and the owners of the firm as pimps?!? Even if they didn’t get convicted, it would still destroy their reputations and careers. Prosecutors are political animals, who would love to take down a rich and powerful law firm.

Speaking of charges, why didn’t the other mechanic go to the ER, and report the truck driver for assault? Getting hit hard enough to lose consciousness can cause serious long term damage. Also, the woman who called wanting the MC to come back to work missed the main issue. As bad as the truck driver was, from a corporate perspective, the supervisor was a much bigger liability. The first thing out of her mouth should have been that they got rid of him, and ensured that there would be no future coverup of bad behavior.

Finally, we’re supposed to believe that the whore wife has changed, yet she’s still arrogant, and demanding. What an ego to insist on romance levels of love. Frankly, she should be grateful for any attention any man gives her. She’s certainly not worthy, and she doesn’t make herself lovable.

ZK

AnonymousAnonymous5 months ago

Started as a typical 'we need to talk', the response by the MC was strong, but I've got to seriously wonder if such an MC would have tolerated working for such a useless boss, especially as it was his fil.

We got such a clear insight into the moral vacuum that was the wife, that it was kind of hard to come to terms with both her response to the MC, but also to her need to sleep to rise in the ranks... and then her awakening. Too much was glossed over as if the author couldn't quite grasp the mental steps needed for such a 180... honestly though I also felt her initial reasonings for such behaviour was a little unexamined.

Just a point but it is my understanding that law firms tend to be partnerships, senior, partners and juniors. The way to rise is through the business you bring into the firm/billing hours and buying in, but only if you're good enough to be selected.

So the idea that some worker drones would think they need to sleep to the top is about as absurd as the idea that the partnership is whole owned by a single person. Not saying that sleeping with partners wouldn't be a step to becoming a junior partner, just saying that it'd have to be a done deal for a 'lawyer' to go for it, otherwise they wouldn't be the right calibre for partnership. Either lawyers are Inteligent manipulative focused creatures or they not, no half measures as that just doesn't work.

If he could get past the permanently pressed smell of all the cocks Beth must exude.......

I don't really see a woman like Beth is described as whoring herself out in the first place but being a gang bang, air tight whore indicates severe issues that I don't believe are so surmountable.

Then going off , fucking Frank, a man she doesn't even love, and making sure to rub it in her ex's face, doesn't lend to any understanding for this reconciliation.

Gotta say the RAAC doesnt sit well with me eithet, especially the money sharing. You gave back the mc some degree of good male characters after starting him off as a pathetic wimp who wouldnt stand up.to his wife but then start taking them away again towards the end. How odd that some commentators interpret this statement of a woman who has recovered the love of her ex-husband, her own self-esteem, and her confidence in both of those things as evidence that she is still a money-grubbing narcissist. You pretty clearly establish that is definitely not the case. Well done, sir.

I really don't understand this story. She cheats with a sober mind. She's completely right about being untrustworthy. She not only cheats, but she tried very hard to justify it for a very long time. Plus she made zero effort to win him back. Plus she made demands while being damaged goods, her words not mine. Plus she was a hypocrite when the first whiff of competition shows itself. Plus she mentioned how little she would respect him if he accepted her financial orgy. She did a lot wrong. It got harder and harder to accept that he would miss her. Her missing him made sense though.

Honestly HDK would you take Beth back after pulling the stunt she did?

Truly now, would you?

Personally l’d leave at the curb where she belongs.

I assume Jason knew she triple teamed at her Conference by the Partners?

For heavens sake he may have seen it. That’s something one does NOT forgive.

You pulled together, hastily in the end, an unlikely RAAC. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

So the reassessed score here is 2/5

AnonymousAnonymousover 1 year ago

Beth states:

Let's go tell that bitch that the big stateroom is reserved for the owner and his intended. She can bang my brother in the damned hammock for all I care. By the way, I want three kids, a dog and a yacht. I hope you're up for it."

This final statement exposes Beth for who she really is. Her “efforts” to “grow and understand herself” (throughout the whole story) was a masterful lie. It was all an act. Now that she has achieved her goal, her unchanged real self comes out.

This puts a whole different feeling on the story, and for me at least, this raac has failed. As well written as the story was until that point, it left me completely flat. I have no problem with people doing wrong things, recognizing them, and changing for the better. We are all human, (and sometimes fuck up badly,) and understanding, change and growth is what life, in my view, should be about. That, in my view, is a basis for a positive raac. I do have a serious problem with con men or women, and Beth certainly was exactly that. No one who has really understood and changed themselves, would hold the attitude she expresses here. It is mean, selfish and despicable. A genuine person would never even joke like this! • 2 stars

Poor Jason was outnumbered. He stated he did not know Beth well enough to marry her... all valid statements, however how do you figure he amassed valuable information to change his mind. She was and is immoral. He now is worth 100 m so she has developed a moral compass? On the writer' s ability to construct a story...this one is very good. The writer nobs and weaves the way to a more than plausible sequence of tasks and events. One last point; many even a slight majority of instances of infidelity, end in divorce as over 35% of divorces are caused by "out of marriage sexual activity...

I think reconciliation is the hardest thing to write about in literotica. It takes time and effort to get it right. The readership must all be jilted lovers because they are so hard on the cheaters. Yet, the reality is that most infidelity doesn’t end in divorce.

Excellent writing, interesting read, BUT... Not sure anyone could recover from having their wife get triple teamed and air tight and her not see anything wrong with it! Interesting and Entertaining Story

I usually don’t like RAAC stories, but in this story it took a while but the lady did eventually figure out that it was her, not the husband, who messed up. Her last line at the end is a little over the top, but Jason didn’t want a Stepford Wife either. If I were Jason, though, it would take me a long time to trust her. Good story.

AnonymousAnonymousover 1 year ago

I enjoyed the story. Not realistic for them to get back together but the author weaves an interesting tale of betrayal, loneliness, growth, and maturity. In reality there is no way to know all the changes in Beth's life and perspective. But we get to see it being the reader.

What the fuck was that shit!!! Okay, she learned her lesson (after way longer than it would have taken someone less “smart” than her). That doesn’t mean that you take her back. I can't believe I missed commenting on this one before! Nobody writes stories like HDK. Long or short, humorous or serious, they are invariably entertaining and absorbing. I admire Jason's ability to get over the shock and pain of Beth's betrayal; not sure I would have recovered so easily. But to be fair, it's been over 2 years and he's now worth $100 million, so I guess that eases the pain a bit! With the usual missed connections, false assumptions, and the humorous dialogue, this one demonstrates all that is great about an HDK story.

Thanks, ohio

This was a great story by a very gifted writer. Five starts for sure. I did not think it was possible that Jason and Beth could ever get back together. I reminded me of my sister, Patti, who divorced her husband, Michael, and after marrying another man in Mississippi, she lost her second husband to a heart attack. Then she moved to Florida and began dating her ex-husband and they remarried. They were happily married until this year when my sister, Patti, died while Hurricane Ida passed thru the Tampa Bay area. I was so happy she got back with Michael. Just like Beth in this story, Patti never stopped loving Michael and just like Jason in this story, Michael never stopped loving Patti. It was a lovely love story and I am so glad they found each other again. This story reminded me of that, and I was so glad in this story that Jason and Beth found each other again. Great story!!!

Beth certainly matured enough to be able to handle an exclusive relationship, but I don't feel she ever earned the right by the end of the story. Jason never really allowed himself to the chance to open his heart to other possibilities. Candy would have been a great choice, but he held back, which led to the predictable ending of him fully forgiving and taking Beth back.

Jason not having other relationships afterwards really hurt the story, and made the reconciliation feel incredibly forced. It's a good story, but I just felt there were some needed elements missing. A solid 4.5*

Good story. Beth and Jason were incompatible when they got married on thr concepts of fidelity and marriage. Beth was too young and self centered to understand what Jason needed. Jason rightfully divorced her but probably had regrets he didn't fight harder to get her to not go. Although she had already accepted the invitation fully knowing what was expected and as her mom aptly pointed out, the marriage was by then already over. But the author does a good job of showing how both matured. Beth became a public defender and stopped chasing money. She gave him half her settlement package which Jason parlayed into a hundred million dollars through hard work and finding himself. If Jason wants to think half of what he owns is Beth's that is his prerogative. They probably will get a prenuptial anyways that hashes things out. Beth doesn't care. She has grown and wants to be with someone who will love her and father her children. She no longer thinks of sex as being detached from love abs relationships. She has matured. Jason recognizes this though it took several years of personal growth on thr part of Beth and to some extent Jason. By the end of the story he has no doubts. And Beth is still deeply in love with Jason. Ending was rushed but a good story.

One of the better stories I've read from this author overall. I was good with this story until the last scene when Tom's all into re-marrying Beth, starting & family & shit. This's the same Beth that willingly spread her legs for her bosses to get what she mainly wanted. She says she changed, but has she?

-- I'm not saying that she hasn't or doesn't deserve a 2nd chance if that's what they both want, but even with time on the boat, they really haven't had time to reconnect, which's what some dating or simply being together would've/ could've done. It wound up that she just stated that she changed & what she wants before being seriously involved with any man, & he turned to a jelly fish in promising her everything- a complete 180 of the man who took no crap from her... then her father. If a true reconciliation IS in their future, at least a few more months of seriously seeing each other wouldn't hurt.

--- Also telling her so early about his fortune: she deserves a chunk of it, but half? True, it started out with her $25K, but she gave it to him after being fired to make her feel better after the divorce. Yes, she could have much more than that in return, but it's also Tom's work & foresight that got him the $100+ million, so he deserves most. Tell her about it later after comfy with their marriage, OK, but not when he did. How'd he truly know she'd remarry him our of love & NOT in large part because of his $$$? After all, even though she says she changed, he never went through to be able to feel she did. And the reason to fuck the partners way back when: primarily money- to be able to afford a house, start a family, etc., etc., etc. Now he's telling her before even bedding her that he's rich.

--- For 90+% of the story, Tom's written as a man with character, foresight, intelligence, & a backbone with knowledge of right & wrong. Unfortunately, the last part, he loses his backbone pretty badly with his intelligence taking a bit of a hit. Yes, I believe Beth DID learn her lesson & changed, thereby not doing anything so stupid. But Beth asking if he'd kick her out again if she shoots herself in the foot: story doesn't go into what she meant by that. Just mistakes, or is she again thinking (in spite of my beliefs just written) about a go down the line with another guy?

--- THIS should've been felt out if Jason didn't blubber about remarrying her & stuff. (Yes, I believe she did mean if she made a somewhat serious mistake, but not having sex with someone). I would've liked, at least in a short part 2 (2 pages, not long), how the wedding went & their marriage faired. Would've been nice to read they're happy ever after, etc., or whatever the author decided to write. But she(?) didn't.

--- I'm always happy for the happy ending & reconciliation, when each's justified, & believe it was here, despite my feeling- also - that things were rushed. But this story, as other's I've read by this author, was well written & thought out. 4 stars. Bob

Jason is a very smart guy, however his emotional stamina is greatly flawed. It doesn’t matter that Beth matured and changed her way of thinking and acting. The crap she pulled broke his heart and ruined years of his life. She knew it would hurt him and did it anyway. This is not a second chance for Beth, this is a dilemma Jason is creating on pure faith. He should sail the Seven(7) seas hoping to find a mermaid before he re- engages with Beth. Geez what’s wrong with him.. Another great story, very enjoyable and very well written.

"As Jason drove, he formulated a plan. He was a mechanical engineer by profession, so his mind immediately began acting like a machine. His first action was to turn his cell phone off."

Loved the happy ending; I believe she understands her mistake & won’t repeat it. However, them sleeping together might be too soon. Good story, well written. Long but worth it. 5 stars. Bob

Good story and moves well. Good grammar and all the other crap. He couldn't stand the sight of me when I cheated. I hurt him so deeply. We both ran in separate directions only he didn't get far. His car was hit by a drunk teen on her way to another party. Oh how I cried at his funeral. In 11 years, I still haven't dated. I am so sorry Tom.

"...another runner..."

Yep. She still thinks she's the victim. What a_reader_from_germany said. No amount of post divorce sex with other women can change the fact that he's remarrying a woman who was delighted to cuckold him (or at least delighted by the "opportunities" that willingly cuckolding him would provide), and who still believes that he abandoned her for no reason, and she was the victimized party, as much as she insists otherwise. HDK I love some of your stories, but this one...nope. Not even a little bit.
