Due to the number of abbreviations, ship listings, and list of characters, in this story, I include a glossary that is now in a stand-alone chapter called 'All That Glitters: Notes'. Any and all information that you want or need to know about the series is included in Notes. It will be updated frequently simply by re-issuing the chapter to Literotica.

There is little attempt to explain the back story, so it is necessary to read previous chapters to fully understand where we are.

Samaya Hotel, Scherm's City, Hollander's World, Sullivan System, Sixty Light Years from Terra

The Trine woke up the next day in the hotel bed when their new pets licked their respective noses to tell them it was time to eat.

"Are we going to go through this every morning?" Hanalei asked, with a fake pout.

Junelliea smiled at her, knowing her moods. It was her time of the month, and she was always grumpy then. Junelliea never grumped. She had too much of interest going for her lately.

"I'm sure only one of us will need to get up to feed them once they get used to us," she told her miserable mate, with a bright smile, further angering Hanalei.

"You're always such a happy person, damn it," Hanalei griped, getting a smile from her mates.

Fayad and Hanalei pulled on dressing gowns and moved into the sitting area where Fayad made a call to housekeeping to ask about feeding Cats. Some ten minutes later, a woman knocked on their door and entered on the summons. A Cat was ridding her shoulder.

"Hello, I'm Murhaya, I've heard that new empaths have bonded with Cats and are looking for instruction?" she said, diplomatically.

Murhaya was looking at the handsome couple in front of her, a welcome change from the children she normally instructed. They were dressed in the silky robes of the hotel, which clung to their bodies showing their exquisite forms.

The male was half-a -head taller than the female, who was slightly taller than Murhaya. The both had light-brown hair, the woman's reaching down almost to the middle of her back. But it was their eyes that caught Murhaya's attention. Their eyes were the deepest of blues and carried their intelligence in them.

Two Cats were riding the shoulders of the pair and by how comfortable they were with their bond mates, that meant they likely had a young child that has a new Cat. Murhaya couldn't understand why they had asked for her as the parents should be able to instruct their child all about taking care of Cats...

Junelliea came out of the bedroom, still naked, stopping abruptly and covering her breasts and groin when she saw the new person. Murhaya just laughed.

"You need not be shy, I'm an empath too, as proof by my Cat Michael," she said with a smile.

"You named your Cat, Michael?" Hanalei asked, her own Cat sitting up on her shoulder, glowering at Michael when she mentioned him by name.

"You should be aware that we are not empaths," Fayad told her.

Murhaya giggled. "Of course you are, you have Cats bonded to you," she replied with a smile. All three Cats looked at her like she was some kind of simpleton, startling Murhaya and Michael.

"They bonded to Junelliea, they simply tolerate us because we are her Trine," Hanalei explained.

"Trine?" Murhaya asked, confused.

"We are from Planet Anuura, where plural marriages are permitted," Fayad explained. We are a married Trine. Junelliea is our empath."

"That's not possible," Murhaya stated, emphatically. "No Cat ever bonds with a non-empath!"

Junelliea suddenly dropped her hands and moved angrily into the center of the room. Murhaya watched frightened as Junelliea's cat moved from her shoulder to the top of her head, her rear feet locked into her hair, her upper body raised over Junelliea, spread out like a cobra. It was a dominance display that Murhaya had only rarely witnessed before. Not only that, but the other two cats had adopted the same pose.

Murhaya could feel Michael reacting to the display, suddenly getting frightened on her shoulder. One cat would not have frightened him and likely would have provoked his own dominance display, as he was a much older cat. However, three cats simultaneously doing such a display shocked not only Michael but Murhaya as well.

But Junelliea wasn't finished. While the Trine's cats reacted to her anger, Junelliea had been gathering her center, her calm. She held it together then pushed it with strength at Murhaya, who suddenly found herself forced back into the door as if she had been flung there by a strong wind!

Michael launched himself with a powerful jump up into the air and spread his cape wide to catch the air as he swooped around the room and flew towards Junelliea, obviously angry at the attack on his mistress. Junelliea raised a finger at him and pointed back at his empath. Michael reacted with alarm at the power of her persuasion, rushing back to cower behind Murhaya, just peaking his head out to see what was happening.

Murhaya had never felt such levels of power before. It shocked her to her core. Worse, Michael, her Michael, the master cat of the Grand Congress of Empaths. The cat that could control all other guest cats, was hiding behind her head!

"I am tired of people telling us what is impossible, when we are blatantly doing otherwise," Junelliea snapped.

Murhaya took in the very beautiful, very naked, very powerful empath that stood before her. She went to one knee and bowed her head, Michael slipping onto the ground in front of her, adopting a submissive pose of his own in front of her, shocking Murhaya once again.

"Rise," Junelliea snapped. "Why is she here?" she demanded.

"She is the expert on Cats, apparently. At least the one the hotel sent to us." Fayad explained.

"Really?" Junelliea asked in a scathing manner. "This is the expert on our Cats?"

"Behave, Junelliea," Hanalei admonished. "We need her advice on how best to care for our new friends."

Junelliea's mood suddenly changed, and the Trine's cats relaxed, returning to their shoulders. Hanalei slipped into the bedroom and returned with a long robe that she helped Junelliea into.

"Show off," was all she said to Junelliea, a smile on her lips as Junelliea blushed.

"I think you mean 'exhibitionist'," Fayad stated, helpfully, bringing more of a blush from Junelliea.

Murhaya watched the exchange and realised how comfortable these people were with each other, and even how comfortable the cats were with them. Fayad stepped over to her, reached down and took her hand, pulling her to her feet.

"We are not royalty, Murhaya," he told her with a smile that literally melted her heart. "You need not kneel before us."

The Trine came to stand beside each other, arms wrapped around their waists. The cats began to fidget on their shoulders until Junelliea raised a finger, when they suddenly settled onto their respective bond mates shoulders. Murhaya had never seen such a response before but then, she had never felt such power before either.

"How long ago did you bond with them?" Murhaya asked, puzzled by the display. This was something that occurred only with bond relationships that have had some time together.

"We were introduced last night at the ball when they jumped on Junelliea," Hanalei explained. "She got mad at them for their squabbling and they settled their tiff and chose each of us."

"Wait? Introduced?" Murhaya asked, confused yet again.

"Junelliea has just developed her powers, we are here to find someone who can train her," Fayad clarified.

"Wait? What? You are untrained!?" Murhaya almost screeched.

There was a knock at the side door between rooms which opened to allow several women to enter.

"Silliya!" Murhaya called out and rushed into her arms.

The two giggled like schoolgirls as they hugged Michael jumping up and flying around the pair to land on one or the other then jump up again, bringing confusion to all those in the room.

"Murhaya was in my Crush," Silliya told the assembled group.

"She was also there when Michael bonded with me," Murhaya offered by way of her side of the explanation.

"What are you doing here?" Murhaya asked of her friend.

"We are here for Junelliea," Silliya informed Murhaya.

"May I introduce my friends," Silliya said. "First, this is Dr. Heyya, Head of Medical Services at Liramor-23, where I work as a nurse.

"Next is Dr. Anaya, Dr. of Physiotherapy, and the coordinator of the physio unit at our hospital.

"Then comes Dr. Leanora Galt, Psychiatrist, our one and only on the platform."

"Then we have my teammate and fellow nurse, Katanya."

"After that, we have the sexpot, Gillaya!" Silliya stated, getting a 'Hey!' from Gillaya. "Who is a bodyguard."

"Then comes Fiona Marsh..." Silliya was suddenly interrupted by an odd sound from Murhaya who suddenly looked starstruck as she stared at Fiona in her dress uniform. "Fiona is the Director of Operations of Liramor-23 and Commodore in command of the Piscium Defence Force," Silliya continued, reaching up to close Murhaya's mouth, a smug smile on her face from her Crush mate's reaction.

"You have probably met, Fayad, Hanalei, and Junelliea, they are a married Trine. We came here because Junelliea has just come into her powers and needs someone of greater skill than we have to train her. With the exception of Dir. Marsh, we are Junelliea's Congress and instructors. However, her level of power dictates the need for a more powerful and experienced empath to bring back to Liramor-23."

"We felt Junelliea's anger just a moment ago," Heyya explained. "So we came to see what was going on."

"This woman insisted that we were doing the impossible," Junelliea explained flinging her hands out and inadvertently opening her gown exposing herself again, as she moved toward the group.

"I am so frustrated that people keep insisting we are unable to do what we are obviously doing," she grumbled.

Fayad smiled at the anger from her mate and slipped his arms around her from behind, tying her loose robe together. "Definitely an exhibitionist," he murmured into her ear then kissed it, bringing an explosion of red to Junelliea's face.

"Oh, she looks so cute when she blushes," Gillaya simpered.

"Says the sexpot," Anaya responded. "I bet the blush you saw was not on her face, Gillaya," she said to laughter all around.

"Murhaya is here from the hotel to help us with our cats," Hanalei explained. "She wouldn't believe it when we told her we bonded with them last night and that we, Fayad and I, are not empaths."

"You may not be empaths, Hanalei," Silliya told them. "But you are part of Junelliea's Trine. Closer in some ways than a Crush mate can be, especially since you have participated in Junelliea's training. You have a link to her that IS based on empathy, and the Cats can sense this. They each wanted to bond to Junelliea, only her Cat is the dominant one in this group. So they settled for being with you."

"Well, that is interesting," Murhaya exclaimed. "That would indeed explain a lot of things. However, you will not be able to go back to Liramor-23 with the Cats. They cannot leave the planet."

"What do you mean they cannot leave the planet?" Hanalei asked, suddenly worried.

"They have unique metabolisms that require nucleobases that can only be found here on this planet. This planet provides their only food source," Murhaya explained.

"But we are having food stocks imported from Hollander's World," Junelliea said after a brief pause.

"Human plants do not absorb the nucleotides that are found in the native flora," Murhaya explained, shaking her head. "Importing human plants from this world will not help your Cats."

"No, we are importing native plants for..." Junelliea was suddenly cut off by Fiona.

"I'm sorry, Murhaya, we cannot tell you at this time about our need for native flora, only that we are importing them," Fiona stated. "If you tell us what the Cats need, we can make arrangements to include it in the food stocks we bring in," Fiona insisted. "The reason for this will become evident soon enough. You will see an announcement within a couple of months probably. But, for now, I ask you to keep this under you figurative hat, please."

Murhaya looked at the others in the room, getting the distinct impression from the empaths that Junelliea had just made a major faux pas. She gave a simple nod to Fiona.

"Your secret is safe then, Ms. Marsh," she exclaimed with a huge smile. To think, she was in on a secret for Fiona Marsh! The Fiona Marsh!

The other empaths caught the feelings from her and burst out laughing. She was surprised to see Fayad and Hanalei laughing as well, while Dr. Galt and Fiona were somewhat perplexed.

"She's Fan-Girling on you. Fiona," Silliya explained, getting a smile from Leanora and Fiona.

"I guess a signed image is a suitable reward for your discretion then?" Fiona asked.

Murhaya almost gushed at the thought of getting such from Fiona, bringing more laughter from the group.

They all settled down as the Trine went into the bedroom to change.

"Do you need help?" Gillaya quipped as they disappeared through the door.

"Oh yes, Gillaya, I'm sure we can identify the kind of help you would give them," Katanya quipped.

"I could help them out of their clothes," Gillaya insisted.

"But not back into other clothes?" Anaya inquired, bringing catcalls from the others.

"See, our resident sexpot," Silliya informed her friend.

The Trine returned momentarily, suitably dressed in Anuuran outfits. Fayad was dressed in a white, silk, buttoned shirt with dark pants, while both ladies wore the traditional long gowns favoured by the Andanii. The gowns were also made of silk and hugged the exquisite forms of the women, showing of their beautiful bodies when simultaneously concealing it.

Heyya had called room service asking for food for all of them plus food for four hungry Cats. The food arrived not long after the Trine came out of the bedroom, so they sat to eat first.

Murhaya showed them how to feed their Cats, advising them that they should always give them something first, otherwise, they would try to steal their food, which would be bad for the Cats. Giving them something would sooth them and prevent them attempting to eat their bond mates food. Human food, while not exactly poisonous, could be dangerous to the Cats.

After their meal, Murhaya sat with the Trine in front of her on facing couches with a coffee table between them.

"Scherm's Cats are naturally empathic," she started. "They use their empathy to sense danger, to identify members of their immediate family, to identify other Cats not part of their family group from a distance, and to hunt.

"Scherm's Cats are principally predators but they are capable of eating plant based material. I would call them omnivores with a predilection for meat," she explained.

"The Cats are the apex predator on Hollander's World, which will inform you of just how dangerous they can be. A small pod of Cats can take down much larger prey, so always treat your bond mate with affection and respect, or you will pay the price.

"If your Cat breaks its bond with you, it will likely turn on you quickly, with some rather nasty and potentially fatal results to you. Conversely, your Cats will act to protect you from any other animal or human that threatens you. They will protect you as fiercely as they would protect their own family pod. In point of fact, your bond, makes you part of their pod.

"Cats live in family groups, a pod, with one dominant pair, the alpha pair, the female of which is the dominant partner. She will produce kits, though she may allow other females to mate with the dominant male dependant on how good their hunting grounds are. The more food available, the larger the family a pod can sustain.

"Cats will usually have a litter of two or three kits, though they have been known to have just one. Unlike other animals, who go through a need for reproduction every annual cycle, Cats will often go for years before needing to breed. They will usually breed once every ten years of so, but more frequent breeding has been recorded, especially in the wild.

"Something about the human empathic bond appeals to the Cats, who seem to prefer it almost exclusively to the bond of their own kind. While they tend to be aggressive in the wild, once bonded, they make excellent friends. They will bond to you for life and Cats can live for fifty or more standard years.

"Because of this, we never refer to our Cats as 'pets'. They are our bond mates, for life.

"Your Cats, all of them, are very young adults. There are two females and one male. The females are slightly larger and stronger than the males and tend to be the dominant partner in a family bond. Junelliea's Cat is the dominant one in this group. Despite her young age, she is even more dominant than Michael, a much older male.

"Usually an older male will not bow to such a young female. However, Junelliea's empathic levels empower her Cat. She would dominate almost any Cat she meets except the Cats partnered to Councillors.

"In the wild, Cats tend to be nocturnal predators, though they will feed on plants in the day. They can sense the presence of prey from a distance because of their empathy.

"That is an unexpected benefit to human's who bond with a Cat, as the Cat will amplify your abilities somewhat, which is why we now have so many empaths on Hollander's World. I'm not sure what will happen with you, Junelliea, as your power is so strong the reverse might be true and you will wind up amplifying the abilities of your Cat. Especially her dominance traits, which is what we are actually witnessing.

"Cats will readily respond to being named. When you call your Cat, you must call it through your bond as well. That will acclimatize it to its name and to you personally. After some time, you need only use one method or the other and they will come.

"Do you have names for your Cats?" Murhaya asked.

Junelliea pointed to Hanalei and her Cat. "Hanaya," she said. Immediately, Hanalei's Cat leapt up on top of her head and raised itself up on it's rear legs. It was not a dominance display as she did not spread her cape.

Murhaya gasped, looking at Hanalei and her Cat. "Your Cat has accepted her name!" she said, with some surprise in her voice. "It usually does not happen that quickly."

Hanalei smiled and pointed to Fayad. "Fayea," Fayea looked at Hanalei, then at Fayad, who smiled at his Cat. Fayea then scampered up on top of Fayad's head and took up the same pose as Hanaya, raised on its hindlegs but not in a dominance display.
