Due to the number of abbreviations, ship listings, and list of characters, in this story, I include a glossary that is now in a stand-alone chapter called 'All That Glitters: Notes'. Any and all information that you want or need to know about the series is included in Notes. It will be updated frequently simply by re-issuing the chapter to Literotica.

There is little attempt to explain the back story, so it is necessary to read previous chapters to fully understand where we are.

As before, I claim sole responsibility for the story line. This story is a fantasy, with no basis in reality. Any similarity that you may perceive to current events, people, or situations real or imaginary is completely unintended. Look no further than the story line for its intent and purpose.

A big shout out to SaddleRider and my other editors, who wish to remain anonymous, for all their help.. With their guidance, I'm making fewer and fewer errors. If you find any errors still left in this chapter, they are mine, as I have ignored sage advise to make a silly point.

Please rate and comment. But keep your comments respectful. If you rant and rave or are disrespectful in your commentary, it will be deleted.

ShemetAr, The Dalagent System, Eighty-Six Light Years from Asocar, The Asocan Realm

Martte Unaayel met with the person she had been waiting for. He and his group had taken more than six days to arrive at ShemetAr.

Martte Unaayel rose into space in a shuttle to meet the representative of the force she had agreed to fund and to legitimize as part of her future fleet. She had called in a lot of favours owed to her to allow her off the planet for this meeting.

"Welcome, Martte Unaayel," she was greeted by the representative as she stepped aboard their ship.

The ship was unlike any Djinaëte ship she had ever been on, much smaller and much rougher looking, especially the crew of the ship.

"You have read the contract?" Unaayel demanded.

"We have, and we accept your proposal. You now have a fleet at your disposal, Martte Unaayel.

Unaayel smiled at that. As confirmation to her commitment, she opened three chests that she had brought with her. They brimmed with gold and gems. She saw smiles all around the ship as the crew looked on the treasures in those chests.

Unaayel was happy to give up such a paltry sum. After all, she would soon have the riches of the entire Asocan realm at her disposal. She would finally attain the position she had been destined for since birth. She would be Asoc...

Raymond woke to feel someone stroking his lower back. He rolled onto his back and glanced over to his left to see the open eyes of Joyce.

"I will be leaving today," she whispered.

"Why?" Raymond asked. "Aren't you and Alya scheduled for the next week?"

"Yes, but it is obvious that you two are becoming an item. I want to give Alya a chance at love. She has had such a hard life filled with many disappointments. She deserves a shot at happiness," Joyce explained.

"Joyce, you silly woman," Alya's voice came from the other side of the bed. "Raymond is a guest here, too. The two of us can go to his room and give you this one. You don't have to leave on my account, though I think your reasoning is sweet."

"You're going to have to tell him," Joyce said, looking over Raymond chest at her friend.

Raymond turned to catch the look of annoyance on Alya's face. The look finally softened and then turned pensive. Eventually, she nodded to her friend.

"Raymond, Alya is from New Anglia," Joyce explained. "She witnessed the destruction of her home city and the death of almost everyone she knew. She still has nightmares about it. Those nightmares have destroyed all of the relationships she has been in, to date."

"I know how you feel, Alya," Raymond stated. "I was from New Layton."

A shocked look crossed the face of Alya at what Raymond had just said as she sat up looking directly at him.

"I was from Coventry Rose," she quietly answered the unasked question. "I was in my last year of university when it happened. I was a volleyball player and we were coming home from the Regional Championship, which we had just won. We were less than thirty minutes from the university when an alert came over the media.

"The bus driver turned us around and we were screaming down the highway trying to get out of the danger area. We almost made it.

"I remember the bright flash of light, then the shock wave hit us. The bus was flipped over several times. I remember waking up to the sound of screaming and was in pain. So many of my friends on that bus died as we tumbled. So many more died because help could not get to us in time. I survived. I don't know how or why and sometimes I wish I hadn't." Alya buried her face into Raymond's chest and cried after her admission.

"Do you see the crest on my chest, the black lightning bolt?" Raymond asked. Alya didn't look but she nodded. "I was a member of the team that went to Planet Emporium.

"I went there with one thought on my mind. Revenge. I was off planet when it happened. All but six of the more than 400+ members of my extended family died that day. My sister Beth and five cousins that I barely know survived.

"I went to Emporium to cause havoc and get revenge for my family. I went because I knew that we were going on a suicide mission. No one expected to survive. That was fine with me.

"Imagine my surprise when I not only survived but was branded a hero. I spent ten years at an isolated mining post to regain my humanity. There was more than one time during those years where I found myself wishing to die.

"Joyce, you don't have to leave. I have my own place here at Denders. However, there is a slight problem..."

"The three women who brought your swim trunks to you," Alya said, thinking aloud.

"Not exactly, well, sort of...One of those women, the one that brought my swim shorts,"

"Gillya?" Alya asked. "The one from Hollander's World?"

"Gillaya. Yes, she is from Hollander's World and she is my bodyguard," Raymond told them.

"Why do you need a bodyguard, Raymond?" Joyce asked pointedly.

"My partner demanded it," Raymond said.

"Partner?" Alya queried.

"Business partner. The tall lady you met is Liea. The smaller lady is Kim, Liea's bodyguard," Raymond told them.

"Wait, that little woman is a bodyguard?" Joyce asked.

"That little woman once fought me to a draw," Raymond explained. "She may be tiny, but she is deadly. Anyway, the point is that those ladies are also at my villa. So you will have to deal with them."

"Wait, if Gillaya is your bodyguard, why isn't she around to protect you?" Joyce demanded.

"She is," Raymond stated. "Remember she is from Hollander's World and she is an empath. She can sense when I am in danger or when I need her. Like now."

"Why do you need her now?" Alya asked.

Before he could answer, they heard a sound at the sliding glass door leading to the balcony. The door slid open despite the fact that Alya distinctly remembered locking it. Unsurprisingly, Gillaya entered the room. What was surprising was that they were on the fourth floor!

"How...did...you..." but Alya never got more out.

"You needed me boss?" Gillaya asked.

"What took you so long?" Raymond demanded.

"Had to hide from the local security guards, Raymond," Gillaya told him. "They have stun guns to take out people they think are shady. Not sure why they would think that of me."

"I wonder," Joyce quipped. "It couldn't be that you were climbing up four floors to get into a locked room?"

Gillaya and Raymond both smiled.

"Gillaya, Joyce thinks she is a third wheel between Alya and me. She was willing to give up her room and the rest of her vacation for her friend," Raymond told his bodyguard.

"Unnecessary," Gillaya stated. "Still, I like her. She would do that for a friend. I assume that means you want me to vacate your room so that you can bring Alya back to the villa?"

"Villa?" Joyce repeated, curiosity on her face.

"Oh, sorry. Did I divulge a little to much," Gillaya said with a smile to Raymond.

"Dammit, Gillaya, if you weren't so good at your job you would be looking for another," Raymond replied, getting giggles from Joyce and Alya.

"Right, if necessary, I can move in here with Joyce. She looks like the type of girl I would enjoy," Gillaya said, giving the naked Joyce the once over.

"Can it, Gillaya. There are plenty of rooms at the villa and you know it," Raymond snapped. "However, I would like to bring Alya to some friends of ours, Tougrate and Malnad. Alya is from New Anglia."

"Oh...OOOOHHH!!" Gillaya's eyes opened wide as she finally got what Raymond was saying.

"I'll set it up for later today. I assume you will be staying here in the meantime?" Gillaya asked candidly.

"That is up to these two lovely ladies," Raymond replied.

The two lovely ladies in question both gave Raymond a nod of agreement.

"Right, my job is done for now," Gillaya said and started toward the balcony.

"Gillaya, use the front door, eh," Raymond said.

"Damn, boss. You take all the fun out of things," Gillaya complained as she left through the apartment door.

"Gillaya takes a bit of getting used to," Raymond told the pair, who laughed aloud at his statement.

Malton University, Capital City, Terra, The Sol System

Grace Holloway was surprised to see her friend, Guinevere Soulange, her mother Elizabeth Soulange, and Professor Xavier Kuaté, in the halls of Malton University. Especially this early in the morning.

"Hi, Ginny. What brings you here?" she asked her friend.

"Hi, Grace. Professor Kuaté has brought me in for an educational evaluation. She says that we need to confirm where I fit in the Union educational foundation now that I have been studying for more than a few months with her at Liramor-23," Guinevere informed her friend.

"I assume that you are here looking at courses for next year?" Elizabeth asked of Grace.

"Yes, ma'am. I have completed my high-school diploma and, in theory, am ready for university," Grace admitted.

"A daunting task isn't it, Grace?" Xavier asked, getting a nod from Grace.

"I'm not really sure that I am ready for university, professor. The other students see me and act differently around me, and I don't think it is because of who I am but because of my age. I am not sure how to get around that."

"You are not as young as some who have previously attended university, Grace, however, you are also not quite an adult," Xavier stated. "That you are closer to the other students in age makes you more of a target for them than someone who is much younger.

"We can speak of this later. Will you be at Denders later this morning?" Xavier asked.

"I will. I wouldn't miss it for the world," Grace told them enthusiastically.

Xavier took her charges and guided them to the administrative wing where she met with an old friend who had been testing Guinevere. She had asked to give Grace a thorough evaluation, to determine where she needed to focus her studies to complete her secondary school diploma and prepare herself for a university curriculum. This had been going on now for two days

They took charge of the young teen and got her writing her final test, a placement evaluation given to all would be students at Malton. By 09:00 hours, Guinevere was mentally exhausted.

She was brought into the head administrators office and warmly greeted by Professor Samantha Wiccans, the Dean of Faculty at the University.

"Hello, Guinevere. It is a delight to meet you," Professor Wiccans began. "You have completed all of the tests and we now know where to put emphasis on your education. We will send Professor Kuaté a list of priorities for you over the next two years.

"You should know that you have been evaluated as in the upper third of university entrants. In fact, you are in the upper ten percent of that group, which is quite surprising seeing as you are only fourteen years old. Xavier tells me that you are an excellent student, and I believe her.

"If it wasn't for your requirements to study with the Toolend, I would have you here on Terra in a heartbeat. As it is, we will be keeping a close eye on your studies over the next couple of years through our campus on Liramor-23.

"You need to begin to focus on the area of specialization that you desire. Professor Kuaté can help you determine where your interests lie and help you focus your study routine to those interests. Professor Smelt, our Dean of Faculty at the Campus of Liramor-23, will be very pleased to have you studying at the university level with her facility.

"Take the time over the next two years to complete your secondary level diploma, which shouldn't take you too long now, and start in on your desired course studies at the university level.

"We are not sure how long it will take to develop as a telepath, but when you have, you are welcome to come to this establishment. By then, you will have already gained a solid footing with us through our sister campus.

"I will not keep you any further as I understand that you have a ceremony to attend. Good luck, young lady. Professor Smelt will keep us informed of your efforts," Wiccans ended, rising and extending a hand to both ladies.

Day Five of the Second Denders Summit, Denders Resort, South-West Coast of North America, Terra, The Sol System

At 07:30 hours, Gold Conference Room was once again packed full of the leaders of the Greater Community, their Senior Ministers, Ambassadors, and advisors.

"Good morning, all," Sylvie Triand began. "Welcome to day five of the Second Denders Summit.

"Our tourist excursions and shopping shuttles are becoming a favourite of the guests. The list of cities changes daily, so check the website for daily destinations and timings of departure. Please make sure that you do not miss your timings on the other end or you will be responsible for getting yourself back to Denders or finding accommodation at your destination until you can be retrieved.

"Today, we have a cultural group from Russia performing in the theater, starting at 14:00 and again at 19:00. That is all that I have.

"Juanita..."

"Thank-you Sylvie. Today will include the signing ceremony of those agreements already established between the member races and the Union. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Charles Ronter, is here to sign mid-level agreements between the governments, while the President is here for upper level agreements to be signed by the leaders of the Greater Community.

"One other signing ceremony will be conducted next week, on Thursday the twentieth of July, for the balance of the agreements that we will conduct over the remainder of the summit.

"Assistant Minister Cecilia Lourdes will be in Conference Room A again this morning until 09:45, when she will break until after lunch. This is her final day here this week. After today, she will not return until Monday, the seventeenth of July unless she is called back by one of the senior leaders for a conference.

"Tomorrow, the thirteenth of July, the President will conduct a meet and greet at the Presidential Media Center in Capital City. It will be an all day affair starting at 09:00 hours and lasting until 16:00. Your aides should already have been informed of the timings for your respective shuttles.

"This affair should include the senior level members of your government, the ambassadorial staff from Liramor-23, and the members of the consulate staff who will be introduced to the Union at this meet and greet.

"The Maha-Rrin will be greeted and acknowledged by the President, however, their office at the consulate will not be staffed as there is currently no agreement in place with the Union.

"I and A/Minister Lourdes are available this week at any time to conduct the building of an agreement in principle with the Union, based on the agreement that was put in place with the Pod-Drran. If you have any questions on that issue, check with your counterparts in the Pod-Drran government.

"On Friday, the day will be devoted to the opening of the Johal Compound. If there are no questions, I will turn you over to Hanalei for that..."

"Thank-you Juanita. The events on Friday will begin at 09:00 with the rededication of the Temple of Andanii on the exterior of the Johal Compound. This will take one half hour. This is a religious ceremony, however, all who wish to participate or view this ceremony are welcome. We ask that you be respectful of those who will be there in a religious context.

"Cynthia Stewart has been asked to set up cameras so that all can view the proceedings, she will set up monitors outside the temple as the little temple is referred to as little for a reason. There is room for approximately thirty people, max, in the temple

"The temple will be open for viewing until 10:00, when the Grand Opening of the Johal Compound will take place, after which, the temple will be open for religious use and for visitations by appointment. The temple is quite beautiful to human eyes and a substantial number of visitors each year come to appreciate it.

"The opening of the Johal Compound will comprise all senior members of the Greater Community, including the Maha-Rrin, as we anticipate their eventual inclusion into the Greater Community within a few years. All senior leaders of the Greater Community here at Denders will be part of the ribbon cutting ceremony along with myself as the owner of the building.

"If you have any questions on this, please contact myself, Junelliya, or Fayad before the activities begin on Friday. Sylvie has arranged transportation; your aides should be aware of this already.

"That is all I have. Sylvie?"

"Thank-you, Hanalei. I shall go around the room for issues from the floor..." a few minor issues were brought up that were easily managed and the briefing was closed.

Theater, Plaza del Sol, Denders Resort, Terra, The Sol System

At 09:00 hours, the President and his entourage arrived at Denders. He was warmly greeted by the attendees. He spoke with several of the delegations as the Denders staff set up the stage for the signing ceremony.

Eventually, he was led to the stage and sat down with the small group of dignitaries that would be signing agreements with the President and/or the Foreign Minister, Charles Ronter.

The President was a little annoyed though. His speech writer/media secretary was a little under the weather this morning and had been seen by the President's doctor. She had not, as yet, shown up at Denders.

Grace sat down beside her father. "Your speech writer has the flu, father, and has been sent home to recover. She will not be available to read for you today."

"Oh, that will make things a little difficult as I cannot read things out while I'm signing things," her father replied.

"That's all right, father. I can read her notes then. I will get them from Mr. Cantor," Grace rose and found Jason, explaining that she would read the notes for her father. He passed the notes to her comp and Grace called them up, appalled at how flat the statements were.
